Must be something new. He told me to just toot the airhorn and he'd be right up if I needed anything or if I was getting off the interstate. Man, was that guy hard to wake up! On the other hand, I learned a lot and we had fun.

In a way it's kind of cool. It tells me my mentor trusts my driving enough to zonk out with the belief that I won't kill us all. Nyahhaha! The Foooool.

I start on Monday for training and they told me no teams I can't sleep if somebody else is driving I feel sorry if I get a trainer that wants to run team we get a set pay to learn your trainer might be good but he might be make good money by running teams and like blue said he should be teaching you

All true. And he is making good money off me, but in his favor I'll say he answers all my questions and no BS plus our personalities mesh fairly well which is not to be despised. After two weeks and more than a few miles I don't know what I could do. Better the devil you know than the one you don't, eh?
Not enough trainers like Blue out there and no guarantees. Anyway got to hit the sack again, in six hours we're off for CA south (shudder) and I got to get my beauty sleep (not that it will change anything)(some people have good looks and some personality....I got lots of personality but I aint sayin' its good!lol)Be Safe out there and Don't let the Minahunees get you!

Droped the load in CA no prob and picked up another from Colton to Houston area. Nightmare drop off and no empty to pickup so bob tailed to terminal in Lancaster. As we were leaving, the Qualcom went on the fritz couldn't see the screen. Had been having a problem for some time but not like this! Had to give up our load and we won't get out until 0600 for a run to Connecticut and then Indiana before OK City. Had to take a backing test today. It was supposed to be a course, but it was a test. I did O.K. for the set upsin the yard but when I went to put her back where she came from I just didn't get 'er done so I failed. I thought I was dead meat but my mentor said that it was something Laredo and Houston were doing and the driver manager in Lancaster said I wasn't fired so I'm still hanging in. I Really need more practice, especially in difficult situations. Any tips would be appreciated. At least I'm consisent. I seem to make the same errors (over correcting and not holding long enough) every time. I just wish I could get a handle on them. Oh well, I still have 140 hrs. to get it right.
Be safe out there and Don't let the Minahunees get you.

DocFrank, practice is the only way to improve. My trainer saw me struggling with over steering and said something that made me sense to me. He said I needed to think of my truck as a woman. She needs caressing and I was trying to force everything. He had me do slow but fluid maneuvers to get the back tandems where they needed to go. Slow is your friend. If you see the trailer going too far one way or the other, a slight pull up and angle change will get it in the right position to get it where you want it to go.

You can do it. Just remember there is no time clock. Take all the time you need, bro. With time you'll it will become much easier but every driver has days when they can't even straight back. Believe me.

Well,I guess I'm a real live big boy truckin' trucker now, I've been to the Iowa 80! What a place! I thought the TA in Joplin was big but this definitely is humongous had a shower and had to leave. Too bad but at least I saw the elephant. We're hauling a load of bottled water down from Michigan 76000+ gross so second heaviest I've done so far. Typing in the back of a moving truck is no fun for sure so I'll say adios. Don't let the Minahunees get you and y'all be safe out there heaar'

Good Luck out their Doc, but is it true that SWIFT drivers have to wear uniforms? If so I think that's sweet if not I guess I'll go grab a few Polos because my appearance is my everything...
