Occasionally you will find there is some street justice like that.
I think it comes from cops being frustrated by people being able to afford lawers to get the tickets for the stupid crap they do thrown out.
The Cop made me do it.

I have an easier time believing that happened in NY. After being in the business for 21 years I can't imagine an officer telling you to do that. Too much liability on the officer and the department.

Both of my friends have been driving since the 90's and they said it happened back in the day and yes they were both in the burroughs

Reminds me of the long bridge in Louisiana where you are not allowed at all to be in the left lane. There were many cases of the cops parking on the shoulder and opening their doors, the courteous drivers would move over into the other lane and the cops would come after them writing them a ticket. Also reminds me, have you guys seen that documentary on the crooked cops in Louisiana? It is fairly new and has been playing on PBS. Pretty scary story! The cops were required to carry a "ham sandwich" with them at all times. This is a gun that was wiped clean that they could plant on suspects!
