Congrats. I wish you luck. Will you be working nights, weekends, and holidays to start?

Took me 3 years of nights till I had the seniority to get a decent start time which at 1pm felt like a huge deal. I had a 5pm, 7pm and a midnight before then. The midnight start had Saturday and Sunday off but really I was done around noon on Saturday and whipped so it wasn't all that.
Up north on holidays I sign to work if the day falls on my regular schedule so I'll work Monday and make the double time and a half.
Most holidays they work 14 guys or so and force several, but this Memorial day everyone is a volunteer..must be the economy.
It pays about $1300 for a full shift and guys training aren't eligible for holidays yet.

How many hours per day do you guys typically work? Would you say 10-12 easily on average?

    I'd say that's a good average estimate.
We here at this plant service around 400 customers from one block away to 500+ miles away.
They will figure what you want and run you that way.
Some want 8 and some want 14 hrs a day.

Any of you guys ever wave to the competition when you see them down the road? I see drivers from other companies wave at me and I got to thinking, maybe it’s because we’re all in a small niche when it comes to what we do compared to being a truck driver for any other freight company.
I’ve started to wave too, and especially when I see a competitor out in the middle of a country road where you wouldn’t expect anyone else to be.

I wave to all cryo carriers.
    Easy to spot a trailer.

    Just like on my motorcycle..
All riders get the down low wave.

It’s a tanker thing in general, I’ve done it and seen it done hauling oil, chem, and fuel!
    Once you know, you know.

I haul corrosives and wave to all of our competitors except for Brenntag because everyone of their drivers just seem miserable here around Portland. Never a smile or a wave from them.
