So we have a new CEO at Air Products. His name is Eduardo Menezes. Former Executive of Linde.
Not quite sure what the future holds for us but hopefully is good since many people felt like the prior CEO had to go.

Yes my former coworkers in SFS have been saying they are farming out way too much work to LGT. When I run out to Texas I swear nearly all the LH2 trailers I see are being pulled by them.viper822004 and Dennixx Thank this.

Let's hope they do well by him.
We've been using AI to dispatch and it's a complete cluster..
I'm sure we will go back to human planners in a few months after they realize ai ain't for everything.
Gotta learn the hard way and we(drivers) won't help eliminate jobs.77fib77, viper822004, scythe08 and 3 others Thank this. -
Is it just something they are testing at your barn? Our runs have been screwed up since I started so if AI is messing with them, we wouldn't even know.viper822004, Cali kid, Dennixx and 1 other person Thank this.

A dispatcher/planner told one of our sleeper guys that they rolled it out last month and have been kind of beta testing it.
Our trips have suffered and they knew it would because we have had 4 dedicated contractors running here the past 4 weeks or so.
Runs going opposite sides of town, wasting hours because it detects a low tank etc..lol
I've heard others talk of similar trials that only lasted a few months before the meager human mind had to intercede.
Like most new tech it will need to be refined but we have always been the r&d department here. -
We use to have local dispatch out of our yard. Loved it just like when I ran fuel! Then we went to centralized dispatch, knew it was gonna suck and even told it to them. It’s been a constant struggle of messed up runs, where we have to call to straighten it out because it doesn’t make sense.viper822004, RockinChair and lual Thank this.

At Linde the planners have always been a transitory position in the company.
In that all entry level degreed new hires are assigned to logistics and forced to dispatch trucks to customers based on automatic tracking units or actual low tank phone calls from customers.
Ripe with inefficiency but it also allowed drivers to suggest where a close dump out was.
With the introduction of new software a few years back that went away when a "nearby tanks" toggle was introduced.
Eliminating the chance of a layover by advantage seeking drivers..lol
Now with the AI crap it recognizes only the customers lowest tank nearby.scythe08, IH Truck Guy, Cali kid and 1 other person Thank this. -
Our manager wants to dispatch locally too but with this automation crap it won't happen till it shows failureviper822004, IH Truck Guy and Cali kid Thank this.

Yup you get one dispatcher to get it down and they quit or move on. I think we might be using that AI crap lately because some go the routes have you double backing that’s really horrible in rush out traffic.viper822004, scythe08, Dennixx and 1 other person Thank this.

Back in the early 80's, Air Products spent like 20 million on a computer aided central dispatch.
It was a joke. Not sure what they're using now.
At that time we had tank telemetry available in the drivers room. We would be dispatched and check telemetry and know the load wouldn't fit.
Call central and ask where the balance is going. Nope, run the load.
The computer sez it will fit. Lmao.
Had a run to the UP, pumped 100 gallons of LOX and brought the rest back.
Got 5 days off for that. Lol
They called me after 2 days and said they were short handed and needed me back in.
I told them I was on a motorcycle trip and wasn't available.
They were pissed and that was the beginning of the end for me.viper822004, Gearjammin' Penguin, scythe08 and 3 others Thank this.
