Fife has a 2 bay shop with 3 Mechanics(At least the last time I was up there) They Service Fife, Ferndale, Portland CO2(thought CO2 used Polar for Truck and trailer maintenance. Cryo work was done by us cryo or Fife) Its getting bad. We have 2 working LIN trailers out of 4 and a third is showing its about to go out. We have multiple trucks down with PTO issues. When I was in CO2 for the year, we never had a single PTO issue and never had a pump go out. Not a single one. I dont know the extreme cold or what makes these LIN trailers so fragile, but that doesnt explain the numerous PTO issues. I would love to put everything OOS, but I'm one guy out of 7 and the only one who would. We had one driver swap a defective truck out and put another truck back into service without telling anyone. He grabbed one of the trucks without a PTO shaft. He hooks it up and leaves. The next driver comes in, starts the truck and leaves, no pre trip, which is normal for her. She drives 250 miles to the customer and cant pump product, becasue there is NO DRIVESHAFT for the PTO, but somehow it isnt her fault.

We're just not big enough to warrant a shop and a mechanic. We cant take over CO2 becasue they are part of the Fife Family and under different management. We cant absorb or be absorbed by Tualatin, because thats a whole other division and we never got that added business to get more trucks and drivers.

Yes and no. Excluding the bottom feeders, The Upper level companies can struggle to get good people, and/or keep them happy. Alot of guys cant handle the rules. They dont like being told they have to put down cones, always walk a site before backing, no talking on a phone while driving, driver facing cams, ect. When I was with CO2 we had several that washed out quickly, alot never showed up to their first day. That was weeks wasted on a no show. Cryo has ALOT of rules and it takes a different type of driver to be able to handle them and be content with their work.

Yes, there are some barns that are difficult to work for, I wont lie. But where there is a will, there is a way.

I couldn't find anything w the pay, perk, benefits or hours/time off to justify leaving due to work or safety rules but yeah...sometimes guys just don't wanna make that kind of money if they have to follow rules..lol

Unless they don't allow it. I wonder if it was someone putting someone into a truck their leasing from GenOx. Like a fleet owner. Because I know places like Landstar does that. Because truck is a Volvo which GenOx has some

When the job type says "contract" it's pretty much always 1099.

I understand Airgas and Lendi's "strict no phones" policy, but not being able to use Bluetooth headsets would require some strict conditioning for me to comply. Having to be under constant surveillance while the vehicle is in motion is another turn off for me. Would I at least be able to listen to an audiobook via stereo?

Sure. As long as it's operational before you drive and the phone is in a cradle you are allowed one touch control.
Our linde trucks have Sirius XM so lots of music choices.

You're not in constant surveillance unless you trigger the camera. At Air Products you’re allowed to use Bluetooth on the stereo to listen to whatever you want.

Just have to set it up before taking off. Can't grab it while driving.
