Getting my last holiday in before retirement.

Headed to my 1st stop in Dickinson,ND, where it's a balmy 2 above with fog.
Fun trip in the snow and ice out of Minnesota last night.
Return trip sounds uneventful but another storm rolls in on Fri-Sat

So I see Genox is still hiring for the position they was going to have me do. Well if you didn't send me home because of worrying about snow you would have someone working that account for you

 

What do you mean worrying about snow?

 

They chosen not to hire me. All because was worried about me driving in snow. That's it

 

You'll eventually get bumped onto a team run out of the Niagara Falls plant. They've had job fairs around here to try and get enough drivers. It's a great paying job though.

 

Happy thanksgiving! Work completely dried up so there was any for most of us to do anything so they called me off last night. Mainly topped of tanks last week. Doing the same thing tonight. I was pulling weeds and raking leaves to get my 8 hours on last Tuesday(my friday). We have an 8 hour guarantee, but it cuts your OT and I need that as much as I can right now. I need to prepare that I might be laid off. FiFes new big account in Moses lake that was supposed to have multiple loads everyday hasnt come online yet, so theyre taking back alot of the work they gave us and we've lost accounts here. 3 times in 2025 we had guys out 30+ days on injuries or medical issues, so that saved me. But now we are a full crew in the slowest part of the year

 

Linde purchased land in Oshkosh a couple years ago and has now green lit the construction of a BAG plant to be operational in 2028.
Probably disappointing the dozen or more new drivers we've put on this year.
Taking the work that we and Chicago covered.
Today is my Monday, last week before wrapping a 51 yr career.
Of course it's a layover to the UP where they got 2 to 3 feet of snow from the latest storm.
Fun times indeed.

 

Man, your last week. What a tremendous loss for them at your terminal. So whats going to happen to all the new guys your place hired, when that plant comes online? Just pulled up some real estate in Oshkosh, theres some beautiful houses out that way and very reasonable prices.

Although sad that you're leaving Us, I'm very happy that you've reached the end of your career safe and sound and are able to enjoy your retirement.
