It's funny, I'm getting all sorts of notifications from Salt Lake City, Garfield(The infamous Terminal west of Salt Lake City), and Price Utah, all of the sudden.
I talked with a colleague in Portland last night for about an hour and he said they are struggling to get 40 hours a week right now, with the shut down. They have alot of CO2 rail cars in town, but they are having to ration them out to customers. Basically the bare minimum to keep facilities running. I'm going to have a chat with the area Manager again and ask what the plan is and if they are expecting to keep us busier. If its only going to be 40 hours regularly, then I wont go back. They just dont pay enough in the portland market without overtime.

I did 68 hours last week.
Went to Indiana for a AR pick up after loading here and making 2 stops on the way down.
Operator there tells me it's a 5 hour wait.
They have no product, so I text the boss and after 2 hours he tells me go to Chicago for a load. Wait there a couple hours, fill and head back.
Couldn't make it and laid over again.
Do 2 stops and get to plant and swap out to NI and they want me to do another 10 hour trip. Tell dispatch no way, but do 1st part of trip and dump balance on way back.
Told em this is no way to run the business.scythe08, viper822004 and Rugerfan Thank this. -

Everything and how they want it done is taught and spelled out in the handbook you'll receive.
It really is no more than following the procedures that are laid out and it definitely get easier with the repetition over time.
They want drivers that can conform to policy to mitigate the chance of any incidents or safety process violations.
It really isn't as hard as people may think it is to do. Be confident in your skills.
Gotta lose the kinda seat of the pants hurry up mentally that we all see every day. At some point I realized it doesn't pay to try and compete and follow the others. You drive your own way knowing that the benefits outweigh the hassle.
Set yourself up for the future with the benefits the company offers. From paid for work gear to gym memberships to 401k.
I always said if you're done with trucking as a lifestyle but want to still drive, try a gig that let's you earn while having a life outside a rig.viper822004, Gearjammin' Penguin, Cali kid and 1 other person Thank this.
