I am of the opinion that it's probably rather wise to get some cryo experience with other gasses, first (like helium or nitrogen) -- & then later move "up" to more dangerous stuff, like hydrogen.

Would anyone with experience in cryo care to comment on this perspective?

Air products was using sleeper teams back in the '80s when I worked there.
Our spare truck was a sleeper and I had to use it one day during a major snow storm.
Going way up in the UP.
Ran out of hours on the way back in green bay.
None of the motels were plowed out,so rather then get stuck, I stopped at the truckstop and slept in the truck.

Rather then getting a pat on the back for saving the day and keeping the the customer running,I was written up and given a 5 day vacation for sleeping in the truck. LMFAO

That was the end for me.

I see team driving being pushed in A LOT of different places -- & not just at KAG.

I think that given the squeeze the overall freight market is seeing right now -- carrier executives are trying harder to maximize the value coming from each & every moving tractor....& unfortunately the best way to do that is to keep each truck moving as much as possible. :(

They won't let you run hydrogen until you have mastered your the other stuff first.

Absolutely we have guys with zero cryo experience and well they are a mixed bag. Some are scared of everything and the others don’t have the experience or are too stupid to know the dangers of the job. On the other hand it keeps those of us who have lots of experience busy as can be.

That is not true at all, and I’ve worked for two of the private fleets! Like most things in trucking the standards have dropped lower and lower.

We here in MN used to be nothing but teams till like 20 years ago. But we only had 10 trucks then and now we have 35 drivers.
I got hired in 2010 and was forced on the last team truck the following year.
2012 was last year for teams.
We do run 3 sleeper rest and roll trucks to eliminate some of our layovers.

I was glad when I was hired onto this strictly hydrogen division that we have zero teams. Just locals and roll and rest guys, of course with business expanding we also get to do both which I like, to switch it up now and again.

Each location, whether a plant or satellite, is tailored to meet current and future demands of any company. We just last year acquired land for a proposed asu around the fox valley ( Green Bay) area and now that plan is on a 4 yr hold as we expand our plant here.
10 new hires, some only weeks old, to cover the changes and the expanding territory. This business is constantly changing and to keep up we will remain flexible but I believe if they ever went back to forced team deliveries half the drivers would bail.
