A responsible gun owner finds this out before arriving. I've visited more than one police department to have them hold my fire arm while i made a delivery.

I don't know about all prisons but Pendelton state prison outside of Indianapolis will secure your firearm, I've been their and done it.

My view is the fact if I have it and don't have need to use it. They will never know I am carrying. Don't advertise the fact that you have a firearm. As far as military and other installations that is another situation.
Almost every place I pick up and deliver at has a sign. Most of them have no clue I am carrying, the ones that do usually have one also. Most times it is a corporate policy, that many don't agree with. I do frequent the same places often and know most of the workers very well.
I realize ignoring the signage is not lawful, neither is speeding. Though I would say every one has done that. However I still believe my right to protect my self comes first. And will accept the consequences.

Do you know why the Army got the mules and the Navy got the Marines? The Army had first choice. Seabees forever.

Illinois does not riciprocate with other states on ccw. It can not be on you if you are going into chicago. Find out which states will honor your license and which states won't. That's the most important thing. For the states that don't, you secure the weapon outside of drivers reach and unloaded..say your side box. No state can forbid a legal weapon from being transported through their state, provided you are passing through. You can stop for food or fuel but not overnight, and no deliveries or pickups. I've carried mine for years and have never had a problem with law enforcement, but maybe that's cause i make sure i am following their transport guidelines.

I heard that the Florida CC was the most accepted by other States... But I don't know that for a fact.

I have carried mine for 20+ years with no problems. I only travel in states that have reciprocity with my CCW. DOT and Law enforcement have never had a problem with me carrying it. Usually they like chat about firearms and it has always turned out well.
