How long does the typical MBM Olive Garden delivery take? I was doing my new Friday route and I saw an MBM truck at Olive Garden usually I see him there at 9:00am, but my new route has me going by that same Olive Garden much later. Anyhow He usually gets there at 9:00am and I saw him there also at 11:30am and 12:00pm I mean was he dropping off the whole truck there?

That's probably not out of the question. I can spend 2+ hours at a 400 case Applebee's delivery. Lots of frozen and refrigerated product, and those kinds of restaurants aren't exactly walk in the back door and drop the stack kinds of places. I can spend a lot of time snaking thru the place and waiting on people to get out of the way, as they're getting ready to open for lunch.

They way they did OG's here was we just brought them the pallet, they actually unloaded and brought it inside.

so, you're at the mercy of the store. I did an OG that way overordered. 700 cases (13 pallets, that's more than half the truck). Took them 1.5 hours. Really, i could barely bring them pallets fast enough.

then I had one that i did a lot. Usually 200-250 cases. 3 guys. Took usually 2 hours. are you kidding me???

So, totally at the mercy of the store. More probably in that case, the truck broke down. (knowing MBM and all)

also, OG (and others) locked you out from 11:00am to 2pm, so he probably delivered and then was just taking his lunch break before he drove across the street to the next one. (thus saving hours). Or the guy walked off in a huff and had someone come get him, leaving the truck (it happened while I was at MBM)

    so, big rumor day.

Duckdiver, when I was at MBM, the rumors around Ontario is that because it was union, they were pulling chains from it and it was going to shut down. But hell that was more than a year ago now, so probably not.

heard from my old "dispatcher", the GM of the MBM denver quit suddenly. hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm could be interesting, maybe if they start to make progress.................

I heard the 'U' word flying around here over the winter. I had no idea where it came from, but apparently it was from MBM drivers in Ontario winning their court case that allowed them to withdraw from the teamsters.

I don't know how that turned into 'I heard they're trying to get the union in here' but I suppose that's how rumors go. McLane has made it very clear that there will never be a union house in this company. Which is fine by me. I've already wasted enough money with the teamsters.

What's funny is I always thought mclane was union as that's what I always heard.

I find most trucking companies kind of follow the union structure (bid on routes, senior man gets the best etc).

I remember when I was a fleet manager at jb hubt the very first video we had to show the newbies wasn't a welcome to jb hunt or a safety video but a say no to unions no matter what video and it was one of the longest videos too lol
