Six 30 oz Taco Bell cups full of water, two bottles, and a rockstar on the way out. Took one pee break.

    Can't wait till fall.

Last year on the hottest day of the summer I took a brand new stop there opening order... 250 cases up a hill on brand new freshly poured blacktop after I was done i had a extremely bad headache with cramps in my legs figured out I had a little heat exhaustion been very careful in the Missouri heat this year 98 degrees and 90 percent humidity isn't anything to play with.

One of my stops today was a Cracker Barrel. Most of our guys dread CB, especially in weather like this. With most customers it is take a loaded cart to the back door, they let me and I start bringing cart loads in until I'm done. With CB you stage everything outside the back door, ring the doorbell and the manager lets you in and watches you bring cart after cart in and stage them. When everything is inside you can finally start taking carts into the cooler, date the product on the cart and then rotate the stock on the shelves. I got lucky today because the manager decided to be really cool and date/rotate the stock and all I had to do was wheel the cart into the cooler. I was really draggin' tail because of the heat and finally got a chance to catch my breath/cool down.
Food/liquid intake for the day was two cups of hot coffee, one cup of iced coffee, a Diet Coke and a muffin.
Had a backhaul of peppers and maters and really cooled down waiting on the shipper's very cool dock. After a while I ran out to the truck and grabbed my hoodie. After an hour there the day was finally done.

The biggest PITA this week was on Weds when I had 10k on the truck and the load planner/dispatcher designed the load so that 7500 lbs was on the right side of the truck. The dock guys knew it was goofed up but went with her plan anyways. When I got there one of the dock guys offered to redistribute some of the weight. Ended up leaving with 4300 on the left/5700 on the right and when I got some space cleared on the truck and got to a customer with a dock I grabbed one of their pallet jacks and moved a skid of taters from the right to the left and then strapped that SOB to the wall. That finally took care of my weight distribution problem.

Still one more day to go this week.

From day 1 to 30, you get 85% of what the route pays. From day 31 to 90, it bumps up a little more. Day 91 to 180, a little more. At 1 year, you make 100% of what the route pays. They "give" a $6000 bonus, incrementally, over the 1st year....but it seems to me, I'm paying my own bonus.

Wowza. Is that in the contract?

That's the main reason I prefer live deliveries at most of my stops. I don't have to touch anything once it's inside. If it's a key stop and everything doesn't fit in the freezer or cooler, I put whatever I need to on the shelf so I can close the door. Definitely don't rotate.

If I have to put anything up, I definitely don't put it where it belongs. I put it somewhere obviously wrong so the customer doesn't call in a short.

Yes it is. The fastest I've ever been in and out of a CB is fifteen minutes.

Ran into a US Foods Driver today, he asked me what I had on and I said 700 it was actually closer to 800 cases, but it doesn't matter. He told me he had 1200 cases and everyday they keep running them heavier and heavier. Said that they hired 5 guys Monday and by Wednesday 3 of them had already quit.

I've actually never heard anything bad about US Foods actually I've heard there actually really good, so that surprises me, but I don't know. Anyhow he said dispatch asked him 1200 cases you can get this route licked in12 hours right? right? He just looked at the woman and laughed in her face.
