You hit the nail right on the head brother... all the more reason I'm working local now, i am just a delivery driver of fuel. Not a truck driver, there is a difference. IMO anyways LOL

I still make a lot more than I ever did in a roehl company truck lol that's not saying much the biggest company check I ever got was $770! If I make that now I'm looking at my statement trying to figure out what went wrong! I do not regret doing this at all, but I do look forward to getting my dream truck soon and as much as I hate to say it if it weren't for what roehl use to be i wouldn't be anywhere close to getting it.
-
but is it worth it for me...I want to make more money and in long term eventually my own company (reeeaaal long term) but I want to ensure I get a decent truck and not one that will run me to the poor house even faster than what I was doing before I came here...I still have to kick it around a little and talk to the boss (wife)...

The P&L statement sums it up for the most part.. Before taxes on a avg. I was making between .44 to .50 cpm after all cost.. that was my gross. then factor in your taxes and it brings you back down to around .40 to .45 cpm... which is what you can make at many other decent companies once you got in 18 months.
I know it took me awhile myself to truly see the numbers.. I made more yes than Roehl Company driver. But, not much difference then even say Crete.. I did get the perks, that was a big thing for me.. I knew the money wasn't all that great, but the perks were better then most... well, thats pretty much all gone and heck even when you turn down a load once or twice they start giving you the 5th degree about it..
My opinion is all this is, my take and how it worked for me, remember we all experience it a lil different but the just look at the over all and more and more are failing then succeeding thats for sure..Mic Thanks this. -
I've gone from having checks of $1100-$1300 to $400- $800 within the last 2 months or so, between no miles, sooooo much down time between loads, never having a pre plan until after getting unloaded, and now this new fuel program, just crazy how fast it went downhill
roehl929 Thanks this. -
I'm not a o/o but its seems that roehl has changed their
Business plan and decided that owner operater program
Isn't profitable enough and took away miles and most of
Fuel discount. In the past you guys and gals got first pick
On the loads. So what has. The happened to bring this on ?
Is the o/o program becoming the new flease/ lease program? -
I would love to get a look at their load board. It looks to me like we're hauling a lot of broker freight. I'm just wondering what's happening with their customer base. We went through this just before the recession. Business was booming for everyone other than Roehl. I've had times recently where I went an entire week with the same trailer.
-
Broker freight would explain the 2 past Weeks with the same trailer and everything being live load or unload and 42000# plus
-
I was giving the chance but passed, I think I could come up with many other things to do for a day but I believe he would give the same option to any other o/o -
The broker freight dosent suprise me, since
we have our own brokerage firm. Maybe its more of
A question of what is the load paying roehl? Paper loads
Must pay pretty good since that's the majority of the
Dry van fleet. Keeping the same trailer all week means
Very little dedicated customer accounts, hopefully roehl
Is working to pick more up. From what big carrier news is this
Forum its obvious that all them are very aggressive on the pricing
War on accounts like walmart, target, lowes, home depot and others.
