    So Preacher, how's it going lately? Been tossing around the idea lately, of course the flatbed route, but still not sure if I want Roehl or somewhere else.

    Well I am still running parts and enjoying having a life. But i will say roehl was square with me 100% thru my leaving. I got every single dime of my money back that i had invested with them except $40 to clean the truck. We still talk at least once a month about me coming back but sadly with them running e logs it is never going to happen. I am waiting on a truck to open up at another local company making percentage and will soon be buying another truck for myself and going back otr probably at the end of the summer. All in all if you can handle being away from home for the length of a lease you can definitely make a good living at roehl and own your own truck. But those first couple of years really suck!     glad to see your still kicking 929...I am looking at a different company too pays percentage on reefer....have KW, Petes, and Volvo 780s....and around 150 trucks...in fact I got the call from them today I just have to send in a couple forms...

    If you decide to lease through Roehl check the truck out thoroughly and wait until you find the right one. I would get something around 250,000 or less and try to get a 3.5 year lease especially since the buyout is $14,000 instead of $12,000 now. I don't know what other changes they've made so I would watch out for that also. Figure that the first year will cost the most in maintenance expense. You'll be fixing all the stuff that they either missed or hid. The way to make money is to have enough truck left after the lease is paid off to drive for a couple of years at least before you have to do either an inframe or tranny rebuild.

    I've also looked at becoming an o/o with roehl but I wanna do flat bed. Since their o/o in the flatbed division can choose percentage pay

    I'm still kicking in my 9400i 9 more months and 7k buyout and it's paid for, have had to spend right at 7k in repairs since first of the year, but she a tough ole truck, they have tried to get me to get a new truck, but i cant see having to put 5k down plus 600 week for 5 years and a 15k buyout...... going to stick it out with this one and get it paid for and see what happens then

    as of last Thursday their was a 07 freightliner condo in marshfield with 190,000 miles on it. It is setup for flatbed, $949 down $485/week and $11,000 buyout. I was going to lease it but decided to wait another year and see what happens with a few other things in my life.

    The kicker is, most of the 07 trucks, even with low mileage, are running out of warranty. They sat for awhile before being brought into the fleet, but the clock was still ticking. Which means that unless you pay to extend, maintenance is going to eat you up.

    A better bet would be to check out the deals offered by a truck dealer. You might end up with a better business deal in the long run.

    If your credit will support it, you could even get a zero down, 100% financing deal on a '12 or '13 of your choice. With a good accountant, you could depreciate the truck 100% over three years and then trade up.

    Just food for thought. I know I'm happier now than when I was leasing. The lease program was a good start, but I've moved on since.
