Man I can sympathize with you! It seems that us small carriers are magnets for these careless drivers!

If this is such a bad job then why are you doing it or mabe you aren't. none the less if you don't like the conditions of the job go some where that is more appealing to you. I have been doing this for alot of years.I have it better now then we ever had it in the past. I remeber the days of no A/C of no jake brakes of getting .10 to split. when you had a flat the driver fixed it. If you were a new driver either to the company or no expierance you didn't get a new truck you got the piece of crap that didn't hold air didn't have brakes when you needed them leaked exhaust in to the cabyou let them idiol because they probably wouldn't start if you shut them off. SO again you don't like driving a truck then move on to something that fits your life style.

sorry all I just can't stand someone that picks a job then belly aches how bad it is. when in truth now days it is alot better than we hadf it even 20years ago. didn't mean to hijack the thread

Credit is never an issue for me but if I see any nonsense at work AT ALL ,I'll will move on,PERIOD! I,wont put up with a incompetent dispatcher, planner, forcing to drive when I'm exhausted,or a safety issue,

    And since I've been OTR,if I seen a place that I liked,I'd rent a place there for awhile,however I always
Kept my home, but I did rent it out a couple of times. So sometimes "profiling" isn't always accurate .

We've moved to 99.5% O/Os. Hiring drivers was hit or miss and as has been said, one driver can ruin your safety rating pretty quick.

Several guys expressed interest in getting their own authority so we helped them accomplish this and although they have new MC numbers, we still dispatch them on loads as we know they are reliable. (Some brokers require 6 months or 50 loads to get the better paying loads, I mean would you give a 1 truck, new guy carrier your best paying loads? High value loads?)

This has them going more thoroughly through their log books, safety score and general truck appearance.

I heard a saying once "why can't I find a good driver?, cause he's already an O/O" lol

Mine doesn't work worth a darn. Just as well because the little M11 can't afford to give up the hp it takes to run the ac.

I've only had 3 cylinders working for the last 100,000 miles

    huh?

If it was that way today, I bet they'd check tire pressure more often.

that guy always parks beside me.

Yep 70 degrees and idling away all night long.

Yea, things are better than they were, mainly because of the Teamsters Union, better conditions and pay sort of spilled over to the rest of you, I was just trying to show you guys that you don't have to settle for so little and scamper around like rats looking for whatever carrion happens to be in the dumpster. No, I don't do OTR, I don't choose to do it, so I am not bellyaching about a job I chose. I'm glad you are happy with what you have.
