Uh, Heavy, once you slaughter cattle, they're dead. They don't come back, although I've had some that I thought were evil reincarnations of cows I'd sold.

We slaughter them before. But obviously not all of them or no one would have cattle anymore don't you think?

This link goes into detail of the herds within the USA. It details in part the last great 7 year culling which reduced herds to about 88 million lowest since the 50's and goes further back somewhat. That culling recovery was considered finished about 2014 per the article.

And we are back to culling. Or killing. It will be at least 6 to 7 years before cattle are back to where they are today prior to the losses.

I will agree with you that some probably come after you post death. Same thing with some horses in my life at the breeding farm. One in particular, I just as soon shoot that onery cuss. If he was not so valuable as a teaser to see if the mares are in the mood or not. They can kill that one and it would be no loss.

Thats probably why hes onery. Always taken to female and not allowed to follow through. That does some damage over time.

A problem I've noticed locally is a lot of people just can't cook. (Including my wife!) any nimrod can fry a burger, but some people need it pre formed (?!?).

I admit I always scratch my head a bit when trying to remember the difference between round, tip, sirloin. Thank got someone put the Internet at my fingertips.

(Some cuts cook real easy, others need marinade, slow cooking, or tenderizing.)

Couldn't believe all the leftover brisket when St. Patrick's Day was basically cancelled. They had Buy One Get One Free sales. Are you kidding me?!? That's $25 right there! And the first one was knocked down $5. $50 of beef for $20?!? SOLD! Tossed it in the crock with a head of cabbage, 3 carrots, half and onion and 3 potatoes. I had food for two weeks! (And nobody else in the house wanted any! Are you serious? Well we know who the zombies will eat first.)

I haven't noticed any shortages around here. We picked up some pork butts roasts, around 9 lbs each, for $.97 a pound yesterday and whole chickens a $.77 a pounds. Ribeyes on sale at the butchers too. Our freezers are full as they can be.

Where are you getting this information? Not Sharp shooting just curious. They like to have those mama cows pregnant so they can produce milk. Those young calves get sold to calf brokers, people like me, or at the sale barn. I don’t see the reason when they’re still is a market. I am just skeptic because I am in the industry...
