Looks more like a Paystar than a Prostar to me. Paystar is what, 4900 series?

Given our length BS for B-Doubles and the imminent push for B-Triples, i dont think that truck is misplaced at all..

I do hope however that they wont be rattle apart plastic fantastic for future models.

Exactly, those are 2 of the only brands left that know what a real tough truck is. Until Volvo starts screwing with Mack in the interest of "Cheap". We all know those guys working in the oil fields or in the strip mines are worried about aerodynamics and fuel economy and Volvo will be there to help with plastic bubble trucks. I have no problem with trying to buy American as much as you can but I'm not an idiot. I've owned some American made junk before, now I shop for quality, where it's made is secondary. All our trucks are made about 95 miles from me in Ohio but that's not why we buy them.

What's their reason for limiting tractor length down there?

Our length limits are whole of truck limits so the shorter the prime mover you have the longer the trailer you can pull, it sucks of you're a mechanic, I have worked on way too many 4800 Western Stars:biggrin_25513:

They proberly did the same thing with the truck they do with the backhoes. Put another brand engine in it put a CAT sticker on it and everyone thinks OMG its a CAT lets purchase it. CAT is the worlds worst for building a half breed and not telling the truth to the customers. Funny to me they couldnt build a IT4 engine in the USA had to close the plant and build a half breed in another country then pass it off as a CAT. The backhoes have a perkins engine with a CAT decal on it, I am pretty sure they have done the same thing with this , BUT the people that have CAT on the brain wont look at the facts all they will see is CAT.

    V8Lenny Thanks this.

fear.. they are afraid that an extra few metres would kill every kitten within a 20 klm radius and that the people who would want such beasts would make every female they pass pregnant by merley looking at them:biggrin_2558:

aka, idiots with no idea what they are legislating on.

These things certianly look to be Cat powered..
Before casting doubt on something you dont know about, why not make a little effort and checking it out?

I can. I can order it with triple steer axles, 4 planetary drive axles and HD frame rails(quad not needed because they use thicker rails), hd hitches front and back, Allison 8 speed gearbox, extra cooling pack etc.

Star cars done have, when they moved the plant down to Mexico, you can say what you want about Mack but everyone of them are built in the USA[/QUOTE]

In South Africa we do not see many US Volvo's . We have thousands of 2nd hand US trucks mainly Navistar and Freightliner from over border truckers collecting and delivering .The local Volvos are very different. They cost a premium and are well built.Heavy by US standards but very robust.
For lowboy work they are a favorite.Seems completely opposite to what you guys seem to get from Volvo.
