The New FFE Driver Academey

hey Rxhorn, well I'm here now in lancaster and I don't see them unless they are hiding somewhere. Few of the students in the class before me upgraded today and were given 09's. At this point though I'll take anything that will run and not break down on me.

Was told by JD today that depending on what my trainer says tomorrow I might upgrade this Thursday. Guess I'll have to wait and see what the "jury" says lol. Anyway, hope things are going good for the rest of you all. Be safe out there.

They have a trucked parked just outside the terminal now. Said the driver T-boned another big truck while texting on the phone. According to safety anyway. Catch you all later.

Well, my brother Mike passed his CDL today. Got moved over to the hotel. He's pretty excited. Starts the 3 day Orientation tomorrow morning, then out with a trainer I'm assuming.

 

The 300 volvos they have are the old ones getting returned to Volvo. They are clean and from a distance look good enough to be a dirty new truck and the only difference in the 08 and my 12 is the hood mirror design so if whoeven saw them to say that just didn't pay enough attention. Anouther reason I tell yall to beleave only what can be proven. Truck drivers are worse gossips that a females pioneers room full of teenagers. If rumors were true the company would have shuttered about 20 different times since I started as well as sold to 5 different companies.

Yeah but like you said Tigger, those are getting turned back into Volvo. Far as I know a few of the students from the class behind me got some 09 century's but seems like most get a cascadia. I don't mind either way personally just want something to drive. I've only seen a few of the Volvo's new ones anyway. there are all kinds of trucks that are parked out here but there all getting turned in. I personally think they did this for tax reasons, along with all the trailers out here, especially since there are never any empties in lancaster yard lol. Was told by richard in the shop that they were actually bringing in some of the 124 numbered trailers back into service if they were air ride (think from southern if I understood him right). Guess will see how things go come next year.

 

well the trucks getting turned in are getting turned in for a number of reasons. the old volvos sucked, the internationals that are being turned in were always breaking and the rest are past their miles for the lease. and trailers get turned in after so many years(don't ask me how many) or because they are junk. and don't be to upset about getting a 09 if ya get one, that just makes it so you are alot more likely you will first seat a new truck.

 

Thinking about coming to FFE, but i have a few questions. I already have my CDL but no experience. Would I still need to go through their school or would they just put me with a trainer?

 

start pay i believe is .29 cents per mile, 3 to 4 weeks out before home time, so if you got grass to cut at home its going to be high

 

Unless u have experience u will have to still go through the school but I 2 came with a CSL and some experience and the school still helped. And it ain't all that bad of a deal not oweing anything after a year of work.
