My how the rumors fly. Here's the scope, We had a obligation to freightliner to turn our 07's in to them in trade get CASCADIAS in return. This happened for awhile but freightliner fail behind on production to us. They are catching up on it daily. As for the dry van side it will slowly go away. We cannot compete with WERNER and Schnider in that area plus it's cheap freight. FFE is going back to what it wad built on, hauling refers. Yes we are upgrading our fleet it's going to hurt at first but in the long run it will be profitable. WE ARE NOT GETTING KW's OR PETES or VOLVOS, squash that. To much obligation to
Freightliner. Some of the recent grads are getting CASCADIAS, it's just the luck of the draw.

Thanks Playmaker and Edmund. Was getting a little worried when I saw previous posts about no trucks for the graduates. I would imagine if everything runs smoothly for me and I complete my phase 2 training around Mid-December things may work themselves out by then /shrug guess I'll be able to see first hand :biggrin_25523:

Well I'm getting anxious and nervous to start my schooling. Does FFE supply any type of meal at all while at the academy or is it all up to me. I know most have said bring $300-400 dollars but trying to figure out why so much. Just looking for a little insight. Thanks guys

No the academy does not provide meals in training. Start training yourself on living the way you would on the road. I can live on 75 to 80 a week out here without taking advances. Everything you do from here on out treat it as training to go out on the road.

I guess its just how you budget your money. I was just caluculating my food cost and it came to more then that, but i guess it someone else can live on 75 to 80 a week then i can too.

does anyone know if you happen to fail out of the school if you have to pay them?

How many miles do drivers avg. with FFE?

I spoke to the recruiter today and so far everything looks good. but im prob not going until the first week of DEC. Still just trying to get as much info as i can on FFE.:biggrin_25519:

First off your not going to fail!! And lord forbid if you did, they wouldn't make you pay. The 75 to 80 a week is because I have a refrigerator in my truck. I buy about $100 worth of groceries when I go out and it last me for about a month. I am averaging about 3200 miles s week some weeks good some weeks less than that. When I have s good week I put back some for the slow week.

The reason I'm so nervous about the driving test is bc I went to a 3 week driving school and I failed the CDL test:biggrin_2557:. I didn't get nearly enough time behind the wheel that i should have. I'm being generous when I say it was something like 12 hrs. The class was bigger then normal was what we where told. either way it happened and I cannot blame anyone but myself for it.

Anyways I am going to give it another shot bc I WANT TO BE A TRUCK DRIVER!!!!!!.:yes2557:
3200 miles avg a week is deff a good thing I was figuring like 200 to 2500. I am pretty good with budgeting money so I'll keep it under control. How much time do students avg behind the wheel in school? Did your truck come with a frig? what types of trucks are students getting after training is over and is there slip seating?

BTW thanks again for all the info!!!!

    Hey Lionheart,

Welcome aboard man if you follow some of the early posts on this particular forum there is a lot of good info regarding the academy. I spoke with my recruiter today and I've got a ticket for greyhound leaving Tuesday the 18th.
He told me I should bring enough money to cover me for at least 14 days.

Well keep in touch Lion let me know how it goes. On another note would it be alright to continue posting my experience through the academy or would it be beating a dead horse by now hehe. Talk to you all later:biggrin_25519:
