Hence my choice of words in my response - lots of local colluqisims. Depending on where a person grows up, some odd words are VERY common, some "common" words are ignored, ans some words are used very differently. Ask a N. WI kid where the water fountain is and he'll send you to this

One of the things that's been hammered home over my last decade of training is "common" is subjective. A farm kid isn't going to know what a viaduct is and a city kid isn't going to know the difference between a combine and a tractor. Any time someone runs into something new and tries to learn from it makes me happy.

Then he was pretty darn lost - where I grew up viaducts were railway bridges.

In Chicago, it pretty much is. If it's a road we'd call it an overpass. Bridges are things that span water.
