hmm.. Ive got a '16 Fitz glider that's going on the 4 sale block soon. Gets decent fuel mileage.. oil mileage is a different story
Maybe he's referring to backing maneuvers or certain turns, which are a bit different with a hood and a set forward steer axle.
No no no, there is a certain way to drive one. A Semi Truck Hit a Tesla, Pushed It Half a Mile Before Noticing
Didn't notice the munched Tesla attached to his Hood because he had his seat slammed all the way to the floor, while being too focused on the faux 3 stick set up utilizing sticks that almost touch the roof, capped off with chrome skulls. We all know that's the only way real drivers git 'er done c'mon.
Lol, I love the ad right below it promoting drinking and driving. Lol, if your gonna drink and drive, do it in a tesla. Because here at tesla, we don't ask lifestyle questions.
I had exactly the reverse experince. When i was geting my insurance the lady punched in my 579 as a 379 and 2007 instead of 2017. When i got the quote they wanted nearly double what they were asking after it was fixed to a 579. Thats where i got that. But again this is compareing a new plastic truck to a hood not an old hood to a new hood. As an aside i also know my uncle switched from a 1988 379 to a 2019 T680 And and his insurance went way down as well. Maybe its because we use vocational trucks namely a dumptruck in my case oil tanker in his. In my case im also compareing a hood to a plastic truck which again has a huge cost diffrence then old hood to new hood. As to mileage the only experince i have there is compareing a 389k glider with a NZ6 which got 3.5-4mpg and my 579 which gets 6.5-7 again both being vocational dumptrucks which as a rule get far less mileage just due to their nature. And keep in mind these were with simular flat nose mac 42 foot dumps, though one as a split one as a dual rear. Going off that alone its 65ishk vs 100ishk in fuel costs assumeing 120k a year at 3.50. I also have seen many people here swear up and down they are getting 9+ with the new plastic trucks otr. Maybe @GYPSY65 can chime in as im fairly sure he runs a box and plastic combo with the same MX13 my own truck has, but uses a box instead of dump. Ancidotal granted but eh best i can do as one guy. That alone makes up for a goodly percentage of the extra maintaince costs. As i said though im not opposed to old iron and like the idea especially with the history on my own def rig and would love a 359. But with fuel prices soaring even the risk of being down or not your going to reach a point where it just costs too much to run old iron and they get run out of the market. Besides if you know def sensors are an issue why not buy then BEFORE you have a problem and keep them in the spare parts box with the belts, filters and fuses? That just seems like good planning for an O/O and is what i do. Plus a lot of def failures are people who idle the hell out of them and/or never bother to get the EGR and def system serviced like they should.
I don't care about the lack of aftertreatment, cheaper inframes, or mpg. I want an old truck for one reason and one reason alone. To cheat my logs so badly that when I eventually do get caught they are going to write an article about it on all the trucker websites.
I run a 1997 every day, bought from the original owner and only driver, for 20 years, do a mix of north east regional with a reefer and local dump trailer work grossing 100k and do 5.5-6, and when it comes down to it, I don’t care, fuels a tax write off, as is insurance, and it costs me a lot less to let her sit in the yard with buckets on the stacks to enjoy life then what a lot of guys are living in a 60” box trying to do with a huge payment or huge repairs, I’ve got no problem getting it insured nor really give a #### what lease company’s think because it’s not their truck,
