Spent many a night there waiting on a load from IBP. I actually preferred it to the one they built in town. When it closed, i started going to the Petro.

Did the restaurant reopen under a new owner? I liked that TA vs the new one they opened in town. If I didnt stop there, I used to go to the old Texaco ProAm off Pullman rd. That was a great place back in the day. I used to have a little girlfriend that worked there. Sad to see both of them shut down. Last time I was in the Amarillo (2017) It was just the ones in town. I went to the Petro. Only decent one left at that time

I lived in Amarillo at the time, so I wasn't there often, but the last time I was in there an hour or two after one driver shot another on the fuel island. It was eerily subdued in there that afternoon.

I remember that because we have an old friend that runs concrete beams and precast out of Shertz with an old ‘62 KW with the same name as the trucker who was killed. At that time they were running a bunch of loads up there. I even called Butch Shumann up there to see if it was him and he said he hadn’t seen or heard from him in a while. We always went to hang out at his trailer shop up there when we were in town. Man It was a relief to see his truck pass by me at an intersection a handful of mornings after that news report. I knew he was ok.Last edited: Dec 21, 2024
