So I got lazy and just had Amazon ship me a replacement power supply. That plus my CPU will be here Saturday. Less headache that way.

 

So still not sure why no power. New power supply arrived today. But still no power. Ordered a volt meter. Will be here tomorrow. If I can't figure it out. There's a small computer shop around the corner.

Honestly pissed off at myself. I had no issues with my first build. I shouldn't be having this issue.

 

Do you have it plugged in to MB with cpu installed?

 

CPU is not. But that's because I have to flash the BIOS first. The MB has to be F10 for the Ryzen CPU.

Are you saying that I should have the CPU installed. Even with the wrong BIOS. To have the power work?

 

You can jump a powersupply by inserting a paperclip in the green and black cable points to see if it works , fan should turn on but some power supplies have to be under load for fan to kick on .
My ĺast power supply had 2 buttons on back one for eco mode and of course power switch . Also could it be the MB is DOA , I have spares laying around so my trouble shooting may be different.

 

Either way it sucks and I hope you figure it out .

 

Yeah. I'm hoping it's not the MB. Sadly. I've no spares.

 

If you try paperclip be sure to have power off and unplugged , insert clip than plug in and power up and of course maybe don't touch the paper clip .

 

I'll check it out tomorrow with the voltmeter.

 

not all parts will be relevant but a quick read might help with troubleshooting. Also, no the fan doesn't have to spin on the PSU to supply power.
