RockinChair, Roberts450, rbrtwbstr and 2 others Thank this. -
The material being transferred has chewed its way thru the pipe, yea duck tape will hold it, sure it will. Is this quick lime (1/8 / 3/8 pebble ?), in any case lime is to nasty to mess with. Your health is more important.
Tell your dispatchers your getting nose bleeds but only at this plant, you don't want to go back. Not to mention chemical burns you can get from that stuff. I hauled for Chem-Lime out of Salinas CA for several years, good luck with that stuff.
I would refuse to unload there because of unsafe conditions. Here in CA, we can a=call Cal_OSHA to handle the light work.Last edited: Aug 8, 2020

Soda Ash. I know what caused it, was just amazed that some joker would grab a roll of duct tape as opposed to ordering replacement parts. It's not like this stuff was just slapped on there, you could tell it had been there for a long time.

The orange duct tape indicates a driver was involved at some point.
Suspect Zero Thanks this. -
Pebble lime will chew through anything, especially duct tape.
IMHO pebble lime should never be blown off, always bottom-dropped. If you need lime blown into a silo or slaker, order crushed. -
I'll second that! Thank God I don't have to deal with that crap anymore!RockinChair Thanks this.

I used to work for Valley Bulk, my return load to Leigh / Tehachapi was 3/8 1/8 lime blown off everyday for about 2 years, and it was hard on even the plants metal plumbing, used to also blown off white roofing rock up onto commercial buildings, had to add water and it would shred the plumbing on the trailer. Quick-lime was the worst to blow off it liked to stick in the trailer, tap ,tap, tap and vibrators constant.RockinChair Thanks this.

Found this pic on Instagram and thought it was a pretty neat setup.
ajax1337, RockinChair, Suspect Zero and 3 others Thank this. -
I got passed by 2 rigs setup like that a year or so ago in southern Idaho. One was a single like that and the other was 3 axle tractor with an A-train setup. Both trucks where longHood pete’s with pete air cleaners behind the sleeper like that. They where to fast to catch a name on the truck tho. That also appears to be a polar trailer as its built just like our 2 on we have external rings.
