Depends on the length of the run, I never have really like using over 4" on product line, I can unload a trailer in 20 minutes, that's fast enough for me. Beside you will find the common for the product line to be at 4". So going to 5" just means you have to carry more adapters,

    Beware of Mac trailers.
We had one that was awful.
The pipe was too low. Kept hitting roadway stuff. We went through clamps for the pipe like mad.
Also the mudflaps on the truck would hit on sharp turns. Rip them off.
I'd spec a different brand trailer.

I love the Mac I pulled and wouldn’t want anything else. What was tearing the mudflaps off your truck?

When I was with Bulkmatic they purchased some new Mac trailers. Went down the road like a dream, but there were 2 that would rip the driver's side mud flap bracket off during a hard left turn. The piping configuration was such that the down section feeding the discharge line would snag it and that was all she wrote. I don't remember it being an issue on the Macks they had, just the Petes, as they had adjustable 5th wheels and most of us moved them forward some to get more weight on the steers.

We used to unload popcorn lime that way in the flower fields in Oregon. One of the farm hands would pace off the distance between swaths and set out a white paper bad on a stick. We had J&L doubles with bottom drop doors and very seldom had any flow problems on a gravity drop.
We'd windrow that stuff and they'd work into the soil with something that looked like the worlds biggest roro-tiller.
