It's All Your Fault: The DOT Renders Its Verdict on Toyota's Unintended-Acceleration Scare – Feature – Car and Driver

"Based on the DOT report, it seems clear that the Toyota sudden-acceleration scare has little more substance than the one that came before it [see below]. Ultimately, driver error was the culprit."

I remember in the 1980s after the Audi "sudden acceleration" hysteria the magazine Car & Driver set up a test course, put cameras recording driver foot position. A certain series of driver actions would almost always eventually cause most drivers being tested to unintentionally mash on the gas pedal when they meant to press the brake pedal. During the test it made little difference if driver was old/young, inexperienced/experienced, etc. Most crashes are caused by operator error, always have and probably always will. The media and the gullible audience are always aching to find some nefarious glitch to explain any unpleasant events.

The auto braking worries me a bit. As sometimes it does it for no reason mostly from shadows of overpasses.. at the spot there would most likely be black ice.

Some comedian joked that replacing driver-side airbag with a big steel spike would save more lives. I agree. Did football helmets stop brain concussion or create a weapon?

That's all fine and dandy until someone gets killed solely because they were in the wrong place at the wrong time, and some ####### hits them, triggering the spike...

I"m wondering if that causes you all some problems on snow covered roads when idiots like to cut you off.

I could see crap like that raising the accidents and more trucks being blamed.

I haven't had any problems yet as it never done it on snow or ice. But I'm waiting for that day.

Look up the cloward and piven strategy, it'll shed some light on the nefarious purpose of "freebies."

Kruschev said the way to defeat the capitalists was with things they like to taste. Drugs, porn, free stuff et al.
