It's All Your Fault: The DOT Renders Its Verdict on Toyota's Unintended-Acceleration Scare – Feature – Car and Driver
"Based on the DOT report, it seems clear that the Toyota sudden-acceleration scare has little more substance than the one that came before it [see below]. Ultimately, driver error was the culprit."
I remember in the 1980s after the Audi "sudden acceleration" hysteria the magazine Car & Driver set up a test course, put cameras recording driver foot position. A certain series of driver actions would almost always eventually cause most drivers being tested to unintentionally mash on the gas pedal when they meant to press the brake pedal. During the test it made little difference if driver was old/young, inexperienced/experienced, etc. Most crashes are caused by operator error, always have and probably always will. The media and the gullible audience are always aching to find some nefarious glitch to explain any unpleasant events.Last edited: Nov 24, 2019

The auto braking worries me a bit. As sometimes it does it for no reason mostly from shadows of overpasses.. at the spot there would most likely be black ice.

Look up the cloward and piven strategy, it'll shed some light on the nefarious purpose of "freebies."
