The REAL Reason Freight Rates SUCK

You mean there isn't a shortage? Heck that's news to.............everyone but truckdrivers! If only we could sue for libel every time the media shovels the shortage garbage story.

 

I just did a truckload rate from up north to down south, picked up a LTL that was on my way, that LTL left me 25 miles from my next load that was already booked last week, otherwise I would have had 180 miles in between with no pay, instead I got $850 to bounce 155 miles. Yep, I'm going broke hauling cheap freight.

 

I knew sooner or later the truth would come out. You are running a hotshot trying to make a living off the LTL freight for big trucks, but instead we are gobbling up the limited supply leaving you cranky.

 

That about sums it up......Every year this happens.....Nevertheless it still sucks....
But like you said....Better to be at home, than to be sitting in your rig at the Truck Stop, trying to get back home.....

There ain;t no such thing as "exclusive use partial" that is and always will be a "truckload" paying accordingly. From my experience hauling true expedite "one pallet" - "loads" and I have done more than a few of those, is they always, hands down, paid far above and beyond most of my "truckload" hauls. They don;t happen every day but I have done the 400-500 mile one pallet loads paying $4-$5 gross per loaded mile. No-one who has that kind of freight is going to allow you to haul it anything other than "exclusive use" and they most certainly are not going to risk the ire of the customer by trying to get rich off that one load passing it off for a cheap partial rate 60 cents, 80 cents, a $1 a mile - or whatever cheapness they move partials for these days.. This does not mean every time they can;t find asprinter or straight truck that a one pallet load will pay rates like that, it really depends on the situation, but in a true expedite situation it will always pay better than general truckload going rates...

 

You could haul this load from Indio to Denver I called on.....The broker is willing to go as high as $1400 for a "40K on the Wagon" load.....No tarps but you'll need 12 chains and 12 binders..........
