Never pulled a tanker. I use to pick up a lot of totes for Havoline Chemical, but that doesn't count... How long do they keep y'all out ? I wouldn't mind being out a few days a week, but I no longer care to be gone for two weeks or more at a time only to get (maybe) two or three days at home ...
The real scoop!!

May is 6/1
Driving western 11 (dry division) I could easily get home (Denver) every 2 weeks. Driving 48 (Reefer), 3 weeks is the norm.
Never had an issue getting home when I asked, though -
I've read just about hundreds of posts online here. Okay, at my present job I work 8 hours. On a weekly basis I make before taxes $945.00 per week. My take home every two weeks is about $1,200 every 2 weeks. That's about $600.00 per week on 40 hours a week. I don't have to work hard. Now, My work week begins on Saturday and ends friday. If I work on Saturday 8 hours thats basic pay $21.50 per hour anything after 8 to 10 hours is Overtime. Anything after 10 to 12 hours is double time. See what I'm talking about. I make money and I even don't have to work hard and be miserable on the road. I 'm not bragging about my job. But as with all jobs at the present time anything can happen. I thank god to have a job and the opportunity to work. But even so, I would not let any employer take advantage of me the way some OTR do young and inexperienced drivers. There are other opportunities to make money out there.
I feel like we're fighting for whatever bread crumbs these CEO's are throwing us and they're laughing. You put your life on the line everyday driving for crumbs and those loathers are reaping the millions not taking the same chances. .21 cpm, .11 cpm. .10 per diem, .02 cpm to process diem. Come on, how can anyone lower themselves so low? Youare better than that. don't ever let anyone take advantage of you just cause they're giving you a shot.
The only thing for evil to triumph is for good men to do nothing. Think about it. If you take away truck drivers professionals and amatuers. How do OTR's make money? Truckrs are worth they're weight in gold. Don't let them dictate what you're worth. Think about this. Buy low, sell high. The same thing that happens in wall street is happening in this industry.
I feel like a ####roach chasing crumbs. I really do. Remember, once you chase after crumbs you'll always be doing this. You're too good for that.
That's my opinion.Skunk_Truck_2590 and Familyman Thank this.
