Read post again mel, the only breakdown in communication was me biting my tongue throughout all this. My attitude was created by Roehl, just didn't show up one day for no reason. Nowhere did I write they are a bad company for terminating me. Quite the contrary. I violated company policy. Simple. Hey, I never said they were a bad company. What I said was they are liars, talk a bunch of b.s. and will leave you stranded in a heartbeat.

You're posting in the report a BAD Trucking Company forum. So I would assume you think they're bad. You choose your attitude, Roehl doesn't choose it for you. They might try to shape your attitude, but how you act is YOUR choice.

I guess it seems to me that you rented a car before your ride home was settled. Nobody said it would be timely, but I'm thinking they would have gotten you home if you gave them the time.

Thanks for the support bigblue. One of the reasons I'm hardly ever here is because there's way to many bashers, know it all's and
plain ole ignorant people simply posting their diarrhea of the brain and putting others down.
Hope you're not eatin again. What the heck blu, I've seen some stuff walk by my rig in a truck stop while eatin that made me wanna hurl and poke my eyes out! You should be used to it after 22 yrs. :)

So, I should have put this in GOOD company? You can ASSUME all you want. Only a FOOL assumes. Yes, I chose to let my feelings about being treated like POOP shape my attitude. Of course, SOME people, ENJOY that and take it all their life. I was never afraid to let my feelings be known. Now, you say you're GUESSING also, not sure why your posting your DIARREHA if it's a guess but I'll respond anyway. My best judgment was to get my post surgery butt home in a timely manner, not wait around for Roehl to figure out how to save some money doing it. I also have another true story about getting another driver home, in Roehls time frame. Keep reading, coming shortly.
Maybe YOU should spew your RIGHTEOUS discontent on a 4 wheeler forum.... Special CAPS just for you, mel. YOU post 4.6 times a day MEL, for the last 1 1/2 years. GUESS :) YOU must know just about everything, HUH?

Did you ever talk to safety? I slid on the ice a couple of years back and cracked my head, when the bleeding stopped I was ready to roll, but I had called safety just in case we needed to do a workman's comp. claim later. She would not let me roll even though I wanted to and fm figured if I was talking I was ok. I had to sit for an hour and then call her back, if I didn't she was going to call 911 on me.

If the Kristen you are talking about is the new one on the o/o board she has a lot to learn starting with everything isn't about her. Roehl's health insurance is lousy, I ended up paying full price on all of my doctor's visits and lab work plus I got to pay the premiums. I got a much better deal on meds with Walgreen's discount card than my insurance.

After I returned to work from recuperation 7 days later I once again had to rent a car. No trucks near me give a lift. They couldn't wait to get me back at a terminal to again, wait on a truck in maint.
They said my truck was ready. Beast was filthy, nasty, stickier than sap and sadly still was after they cleaned it. A bottle of Windex, 4 big rolls of paper towel and two large canisters of disinfectant wipes later it was clean. Still had not been checked out by maint. and had several issues. No way I'm rollin for at LEAST1 1/2 days.
FM then asked me for a favor, a recovery. Sure, anything is better than sittin in Gary.
Even if the awesome 32 cents a mile drops to 25....
I was sent down to KY. to pick up a Rig and driver who had heart problems. He had pains while at the consignee and another carrier drove him to the hospital. No cab service in that area. Some tests, some meds and now he can't drive till seeing his heart Doc at home.
They left him sit there for 6 freakin days. This 20 plus Roehl veteran had to walk to and from the hotel he had to pay for to the consignee every day. The consignee yard was locked every night so he could not sleep in the rig.
He had phone issues and had to get to the rig to stay in touch.
This deserted driver was desperate to get home. He could not rent a car because the Derby was runnin that week. None to be found. He had a friend in New York willing to come get him but had a major commitment and couldn't.
This sweet old man, long time employee was trying to buy a $2000-3000car so he could get home but couldn't get anywhere to look at one.
He #### near dropped on his knees and..... kissed my feet when we I showed up. So after heading 100 miles further south to pick up a load we were able to get him to Gary where he again, had to sit and wait, for a relay to Marshfield. This left me with plenty to think about and certainly confirmed my thoughts about Roehl. No way the kind of company I want to work for. Realizing most of the industry is the same way is has influenced my decision
on what I want to drive and who for. I never have in my previous and never will work this way for any length of time.

This post was meant for the newbies who are being buffaloed by recruiters and web pages, instructors at the place they got therir cdl at that make Roehl out to be everything it's not. All I can say is what a learning curve. More than happy to pass it on.
Next I'll tell yalll about the missed home time, after planning it for a month with your fm and having to cover the planners screw up. "If it's a family thing, Dr. apt, let us know so we can make sure, but you know there's no guarantee...." You betcha.

Sorry you had a bad experience. Hope your future is promising. I can't say anything bad about Roehl. They've definitely given me a few 2nd chances.

His attitude has to do with being MILES from home and released after an OPERATION and they expected him to babysit their truck, and didn't give a CRAP about him. So his attitude is justified, from my perspective. Do you want to crawl up in a truck after having your stomach opened up and lay and wait for your company to get you home? NO, you would want to go home and recuperate there. Nothing unresonable about that at all. The company should have gone out of their way to find him a way home. An appendectomy is NOT something that you go back to work within a couple of days. It takes weeks to recover and heal from that.
But see, this man was in PAIN and needing a bed and some TLC. NOT babysitting the company truck. This was / is a medical emergency, and they treated him as if he didn't matter.

My husband had basically the same scenario happen to him. He had to catch a bus home, and was basically green when I picked him up. They weren't worried one iota about him, but darn sure yelled at him about getting that load to its destination. This is absolutely inexcusable behavior by ANY company.

Talked with them many times. Started before learning the "Roehl" way training. Had a procedure done on my legs with a couple stents put in while getting my cdl here in Rockford. Paperwork I had to have their Doctor complete at Physicians care clinic was wrong. They pdf'ed me more paperwork. Still not right. Once again. Three weeks of sittin at home waiting to start training they got it right. The last batch I faxed them was 17 pages @$1.75 a page. Must have cost me $50 in fax fees total. They are anal. Now I did tell my fm at one point ( I had 6 or more... can't remember, by their choice) when asked to make a delivery when out of hours, "just do it and pull a safe haven, we need to make this one", I'd better call safety and verify this. You talk about backpedaling. "We'll never ask you to do anything you're not comfortable doing" Wrong. Pressured into taking a load into Newark NJ my 2nd month solo. Could not give me short directions. FM's in Ellenwood could not find it on their map program and neither could I. They found a trainer who said"piece of cake, take this exit". Missed it, can't see this one in that spaghetti bowl till you're past it and wound up across the bridge. Three nightmare hours later I was at the consignee. Smoked a pack while calming down and unloading for 4 hours. Oh, detention time pay was all about jumping hoops and playing that game..... another story. Asked to go the NY city a month later and simply said this is where we'll part ways. They took that load off me instantly. Only load I refused.

Kristen is the fm that jacked me the most. Left me stranded. Another driver told me she is so hot, you should meet her. I don't care how hot the person jackin me is. I had dual fm's at this point, the other one was a nimrod named Joel who went by JT. What a condescending PR*$. Simply one of the biggest jerks I have ever met.

My newbie fm, Kirsten was awesome. She was a people person, settled me down and helped me persevere, overcome adversity and all that.

Worst medical I've ever had in my 55 years. Forgot what it was like to pay someone to screw you.
