Well, if people won't get healthy over the motivation of money (cost of insurance) maybe they will if their entire livelihood depends on it... *shrug*

Some people have Weight because of medical conditions. Not everyone is lazy. I'm really active. My problem is portion control and a bad thyroid. Thyroid problem dealt with and now weight is melting off like butter. So don't assume it's laziness...

I've said its a scam since the beginning! The equipment manufactureres and testers are lobbying for it so they can rake in tge money.

Same here. I have a power lifters physic because, ta da, I used to be an amateur competition power lifter. In 2007 I had a knee cap fracture and they removed the patella so I can not do cardio. But, I still ate like I was in workout mode thus the added weight. I have dropped 37# in the last 5 months just cutting carbs and reducing portions. Still got a way to go but I'll never get my boot camp graduation body back but what do you expect, that was 31 years ago. So is it my fault I'm this heavy? Sure is but I'm doing something about it.

On a positive note relating to this thread: I learned today that this dusty little town we now live in has a brand new licensed sleep lab that opened on the first of the month. I called and got an appointment and Medicare will pay all but a $200 deductible so maybe I'll still make my Sept 10th academy date in Phoenix.

this whole sleep study non sence is just stupid you know last i checked a few years ago they estimated 25% of America have sleep apnea why pick on truckers you think cars arent just as dangerous on the roads the majority of accidents involving trucks were actually the 4 wheelers fault so why shouldnt they be help accountable. if they pass this for trucks then every car that intends to drive over 200 miles at a time should be forced to have a sleep study done. we arent the only ones on the road that can do damage

I categorically disagree. I'm a prime example of how much CPAP treatment can favorably affect a person's health.

However (and I've stated this before), the companies that turning Sleep Apnea into another form of "conveyor belt" medicine should be called out and stood up to. Crete, the carrier I work for, is one of them. I called their bluff. I've been on CPAP since October, 2007. Came here and was told they would want me to do another sleep study. Fine, I said. BUT I will not pay $900 for their machine when I have a perfectly good one I got for free from Schneider.

They cancelled my request to do a sleep study. Sadly, they are not the only company pulling this crap.

Check out a Thorton Adjustable Positioner or TAP insurance paid for mine & it works great for my sleep apnea. Much better than CPAP
I think mine came from www.sleepwellsolutions.com

Not saying it's laziness...but it generally stems from not doing what you NEED to do. I'm a foodaholic. Put food on my plate and I have to eat ALL of it...even if the portions are too big. It's taken me years of forcing myself to only eat what I need...but now I can finally have "all you can eat" and walk away after I've had a normal sized portion.

Was it lazy that stopped me all those years? No...it was unawareness of a problem until I saw it in the mirror...and then it was fear of how hard it would be. Turned out it was hard...but it was also totally worth it. I still have a long way to go...but I will get there, one hurdle at a time.

That was our upbringing from our parents who were raised by parents that were in the great depression. We are taught that if there is food on your plate, you eat all of it for you are wasting it if you don't. That upbringing has affected us. Then we feel like we're hungrier than we are, load our plates up, feel full, then look at the plate and do what we were taught, don't waste it. Now I just grab smaller portions from the start and I feel fuller by eating less.
