Well I'll begin by wishing all the best for everyone.
I am probably at best a rookie in all this, but just to bring you up to speed I started about 2 years ago. Bought my first truck, It was a 1999 Volvo with a blown detriot engine and I did't even have CDL license at the time, my neighbor told me trucking would be a good business to getting to, but you have to know how to work on trucks.
And by the way, the very same neighbor that sold me the truck, but I do have to admit. He ask me, why would you want to buy a torn up truck and I replied back that, you said I needed to know how to work on them. I had no idea of all the events that would set into motion.
Well I bought a Detriot manual online and found a shade tree to set up shop, with advise from my neighbor and a lot of research I started, luckily it was only the sixth cylinder that went down, so in a couple of weeks I had it all back together. During all this my wife was putting together paperwork for tags, IFTA, and everything that goes with your authority, which my neighbor said was good to have.
So now we are trucking, we have a truck and authority, but still no CDL, my neighbor says he can get us in pulling scrap metal along side his truck if we hire a driver. So away we go, first day on the job, pulling of the scales the new driver blows the engine, so a tow truck later and back to the shade tree. This time, sixth cylinder plus the head. I had seen a couple of nicks on the head surface, but didn't think much of them until today looking at this quarter size hole. Well another 2 weeks and a new driver, the first quit, to much down time. So again, away we go.
This time we had a good run, driver stayed with me until I got license, now we are buying a 2006 and going over the road, I don't want to make this to long, there were so many stories that were involved it would take hours, especially when you are a one finger typer. I hope to see you all out there, the one thing I have learned in life is the world can be a very small place when you have friends everywhere.
