Actually 2 things. 1.Prehire is just that. You are not hired until you get your truck and a load assignment, 2. These days the trucking company has very little say in who is hired and who is not. It is the insurance companies and lawyers who make the decisions. Good luck in your start of your new carrer. I had a rough stary as well but that was 18 years ago

Sounds to me like you had a crotchety cop in a bad mood that figured you were a youngun and he was gonna teach you a lesson, regardless of how bad is screwed up your life. Happens rarely, but does happen unfortunately.
Yeah, I dont imagine. 31 years ago and you feel that part of your life is thankfully long past. 31 years later and you find yourself in the unenviable position of having to relive it all over again.
Best of luck.screenman_0 Thanks this. -
I think the 'negligent homicide' thing is what doing you in. I find it hard to understand if the only thing that caused the accident, and resultant death, was a tire blowout.
I'm sure the trucking company insurance underwriter person shuddered at the word death, and crossed his name right off. -

Negligent Homicide a misdmeanior ? Don't think so .One poster got it right, the point system Swift uses for vetting disqualified the driver. If you don't have a squeeky clean record maybe contacting a trucking company before you fill out a application and do a Q # A on what will keep you off their payroll would help.

BigBlue and IHScout, I guess the 2 of you have trouble READING what I wrote, so let me spell it out for you one more time so you can get you story stright. I was convicted of NEGILENT HOMICIDE a class C misdemeanor. I served the 1 yr probation for it and I should know better than any of you folks out there. All I blame Swift for is having recruiters who lead people on and not tell you the truth. I regret now that I even vented this to anyone. I have had a few who understood what I was saying and gave me some good advice, but then I can honestly say that some of you can only see the dark side of things and shoot off with out really reading what was said. For a while I felt that driving was going to be out of my reach. I did find that the large companies didn't have a place for me(their loss)I did find a small company who took a chance and didn't pass judgement me.
