Making headway on the A model...

Today we just about finished the sleeper interior to the point of installing a bank of rocker switches to run lights, water pump, etc. for the little sink going in the right side corner Monday. Got it all double insulated with astro-foil and fiberglass in the walls, 1" rigid foam on the floor under the floating pecan vinyl floorboards. Talk about an "arctic package"...finished the sides and front wall with fiberglass wall covering for ease of cleaning, brightness, and just a nice, clean look.

Made the bed board on hinges to flip up to access storage area underneath.

We're switching out the 5th wheel slider and all now, and going to be mounting fuel tanks Monday. Closing in on the final days here...been quite a project from a truck I was just going to switch bunks on, to a fairly complex restoration... lol.

Installed a nice little RV sink with a 6 gal. ABS plastic tank and a 3 gpm 12V pump in the passenger side corner of the bunk yesterday. This was always one of those dreams I had of being able to wake up, splash cold water on my face and wash my hands and brush my teeth no matter where I landed. Now I can stop worrying about finding a place to stop where there's a water source in the morning.

It'll be all closed in with more vertical wood to conceal the underside by the end of today.

Kind of a nice little custom feature, for a stock KW bunk. I'm liking the white wall board in contrast to the Seattle upholstery, it give's it a feeling of half-truck, half-clubhouse kind of now with the wood floor and all. Might not be everybody's bag, but the only one I have to impress is ME, LOL....

FINALLY...found a guy willing to get right on the paint project on this Aerodyne II bunk. A 75 yr. young fella that's been doing body work and paint on his own nearly 55 years. Gonna look good and feel good, knowing he's on the job.

Haha, yeah. If I wasn't putting a big enclosed stainless steel 3 door headache rack/storage rack behind it, I would have done that. These lights will be hidden back there and I wanted to eliminate them altogether because of the rack going on, but there's no good way to blank them out and make it look good other than replacing the entire back panel...and that wasn't going to happen on this build unfortunately.

The cab is fine, leaving it alone. The hood, well...it certainly can use it but the "reality factor" has overcome the desire to get the hood done at the same time. The hood is only oxidized on top so it's only visible to ME (which is going to bother me of course,) but the fenders are good for now.

I have to get back to work and stop the bleeding, so once I get rolling and the weather warms up, this fella said we can pull her back in the shop and we'll do the hood in a couple of months. That's OK with me, it'll give me time to get caught up a little by then.

It'll be a "50/50 truck" for now...Looks good at 50 ft. or 50 mph...Had to shave some expenses off certain things on this now, after going over budget on a few other things that needed attention. Good news is she'll look and drive like a newer one in a couple more days.

Painter called yesterday, (3-22-17) bunk is done. That's the fastest I've ever encountered anyone to do something on this truck yet. And he's 75 years old. I dropped it off to him last Friday morning, he started DA'ing it the minute I backed it into his shop and worked all weekend on it. Done in 5 days. Shows the difference in work ethic compared to most today. Hat's off to Eddie!

I'm enroute to home. Hopefully I can get my transmission back together and if the snow's gone maybe start cutting the cancer out of my cab.
