Wow, i thought people were against these eobc's. The next REAL step is gvmt mandates to all carriers big or small requireing all trucks to be equiped with eobc's reqardless. You will turn youself off at this time and back on 10 hours later, because in reality truckers and carriers have no real say except to play.

I've been on peoplenet for about 3 months. I thought for sure I would hate it, but I found myself enjoying it. Only issue I've had is being at a customer out of hours and they want you to leave.

I dont think mandatory industry-wide eobr use will ever happen. Most mid-size carriers that use them do so because it streamlines planning. If the software knows the whole fleet's availability, it can plan loads more efficiently and the planners can tweak as needed. The larger carriers with lots of drivers "in need of structure" obviously benefit by not having to manually police their entire fleet. The system really has little to no benefit in small operations unless they have a desire to show unquestionable compliance or have been deemed unsafe and it's their last resort to being shut down.
Personally, the eobr works for me more than it works against me. I run up against my 11, 14 and 70 at times. It also prevents me from driving more than 2mi or over 25mph while on line 1 or 2. If the former is happening, I know my hours are being fully utilized. Plain and simple. If its the latter, I deal with it or work around it. I have had preplans lifted temporarily to utilize off-duty driving. Also, these devices are not smarter than us and they can be fooled with duty-status changes. Anyone with qualcomm eobr experience knows the units regularly reboot and leave dead spots... There are ways to accomodate necessity is all i'm saying. -
Slowly our freedoms are getting taking away. With eobr's, it's just one less freedom. That's one of the main reasons lots of people choose otr trucking.

There a pretty good chance it will be mandatory where everyone has to have it,these days almost everything is run by a computer, just look at those new Coke-cola machines its computerised!I think within few years 95% of trucking companies are going to have it,like I stated in another post, computers are taking over the world there no way around it,its just something new we have to get used to just like when computers came out back in the 80"s.Now today pretty much every home has a computer, computer program things are not going away where.

I'm not worried about it....Look at the new HOS PROPOSAL....The majority around here are crying the blues.....
That too is going to get tied up in the courts......Joan "I hate anything to do with trucking" Claybrook is not happy about the PROPOSAL....She'll be back in court.......Buying us more time under the current 11/14/70 rules.....
The sky is still over your heads people....It's not coming down any time soon....
