One more thing I forgot. I do a lot of military loads also. Rumor has it that they are going to require the TWIC card to get onto military installations soon. I got that from a pretty reliable source, but don't know it to be 100% accurate yet.
Personally.....I think only vets should be able to get those loads.....Just thinking out loud here......
No. You can apply without an employer's request. Yes. It's a 1949 Panhead, complete with a starter that makes you work for it a bit. Be funny to see some of these new schoolers try to start this one. Take a nice ride over the handlebars if they try...hehehe.
try getting a passport if the applicant owes $2,500 or more in child support because it is a crime to be a dead beat parent. no background check? ok. If the applicant has a federal arrest or even a bench warrant, well, the applicant will not only be denied on the application, but will most likely soon learn that the info was shared with law enforcement agents. no background check? ok if the applicant is on parole or probation getting a passport is impossible. no background check? ok
Who's escorting ppl into the port? LMAO, that isnt how its doen as you cant just escort someone in. No Twic, no entry so the other ppl drop their trlr and you take it in, get the load and drop it for them. I have done this for other flatbedders. Very low mileage deals for 500 a pop. BTW Oakland and Seattle port require twic and cmtp with carb cert and no extra riders/drivers in cab unless team (with twic). Oh yeah almost forgot san diego also
Actually some carriers are getting in with escorts..... Last year I met up with several of them taking loads from Ft. Irwin to the Port of Tacoma.....
On the east coast you can get in with an escort for between 50 and 80, as I said before. Also Gulfport, Ms. Forgot to actually answer your question. The people escorting the driver in are the shipping companies that you are delivering to. They are the ones that charge the escort fee and collect it. As far as I know, it is done on a port by port basis. They are the ones who actually make the rules. That is why the port ID's are different prices also. The ports I have the most experience with are in Florida, Georgia and North Carolina. Also Gulfport, Ms. Now the ports on the West coast could be much different. Would not shock me to hear that is the case.
