If said member spent a year or three riding a motorcycle in houston traffic, watching the mirrors would become second nature. lol

What happened to your long post? It was there and then it was gone before I could respond to it. It was a good post IMO.

You made a good guess about the speed but if you look at the bottom of the video the speed is displayed there. And no, once they stepped out I didn't slow down.

I gotta tell you that situation shook me up a bit and after a long 'post game analysis' I don't think I'd do anything different except maybe get on the horn a bit earlier and move over earlier if the scenario were identical.

Of course no two situations are identical. I've slowed down in similar situations until I was sure that a car or pedestrian was going to stop. Those people who race to the red light/stop sign and do a hard brake at the last second drive me nuts. :) Had there been other traffic behind me, or had I been a little closer/further from the intersection I would have played it a bit different.

I had a green light, was going below the speed limit and was aware of my surroundings. I saw the cars stopped at the red light so I wasn't worried about them. I also saw the pedestrians approaching and though one would assume they wouldn't blindly walk out onto a highway you always run the what ifs through your mind so when they did step out my reaction was already planned.

You can disagree though, and I welcome the criticism.

Late one night I was passing threw a little Kansas town, where the store fronts were probably less than 10 feet apart. All of a sudden a bicycle shot out of between 2 stores right in front of me, I barely missed it and it scare me to death for a second. There was nobody riding it, as I went by I could see some kids out of the corner of my eye. The turds, liked to have caused a heart attack. lol

So you don't think his collision avoidance system would have saved the day? ;)

He isn't kidding, I remember the thread.

Too danm close. No way I could stop in time though and slowing down would have made it closer.
