That's the back side of Yosemite, coming in on that little road out of one of those god-forsaken towns on 99. It winds around and around and up and down. I spent a good day down there taking pictures last summer.

Hint: This Highway runs from the beach, through a major metro area, through foothills, through mountains and terminates rather sheepishly I might add, on a major desert highway.
Sheryl Crow even mentioned the "lower" part of this highway in one of her first hits. -

Ok, ok. here's another hint: it's the highway that runs through Glendale (by Glendale Community College) up through La Cañada Flintridge. It's west of Pasadena and J.P.L., the portion of the highway in the pictures is known as Angeles Crest Highway.
Ok anyone? I'm practically giving it away now -

All I can say about some of these pics, as to where you are, is somewhere where mother nature's real beauty still shines through. Out in God's country. Absolutely beautiful pics. Thank you for sharing them.

Were you referring to my pictures???
Some of SoCal is "God's Country". That land is disappearing or the Enviro-whackos have lobbied the government to put it off limits to the public. We still have some great camping areas around Big Bear and the San Gorgonio wilderness.
But the Lake Arrowhead area is full of Mansions and most of the Lake is private property now.
