Oh the life of a rookie driver at a mega, been there done that brother got the shirt too. It will get better in time once you get the experience and get away from the mega's.

There aren't many companies left where you just do a road test and start work.

Sheet. The interview at my current job consisted of meeting the boss at a local restaurant for breakfast, answering a few questions, filling out my application. Then waiting a day for insurance to approve me. Then he called me and had me meet him at a local bar for drinks, and told me to be at work in two weeks. Gave my two weeks notice, finished on a Friday, and went to work Monday morning. Never looked back. And it's been great. I am fortunate at this point in that I never had to ride the grey dog, stay in a roach infested motel, do physical tests (not that it would be an issue), work for peanuts. Driving truck has been good to me.

Listen to tall tales, hyperbole, big dogs, little dogs, lies... talk, brag and just plain smoke.

You forgot the videos. Telling you to be a good boy and behave.

The food, usually one rubber chicken wing made thin.

The Hotel. WIth a staff ready to turn you in should you get uppity.

    Need I go on?

My personal favorite. There is one in every group of truckers in orientation who is always outrageous road tripping. He gets fired on the spot and made to walk to the bus station. The one who tries to back a trailer in at 700 mph.

Is it wrong for me to throw stuff at the screen and deride the truck design engineers for making such american crap that parts fall off it during operation?

Im still laughing (And crying in shame to boot.) There is a freaking 10 foot sign right there a left turn would have prevented that problem.. oh wait... let me rephrase that.
