She really is sweet! She never bit anyone. But this is a show she puts on in the truck. The mechanics won't even go in there. :) Go ahead and stick your hand in there, lol.

You can take the biggest, baddest, meanest guy around and they are scared of a little dog with teeth.

Yup, dogs are good. They aren't the only choice, though. Here's me with the pet I used to carry around as a break in deterrent. Worked really well:

That dogs teeth are the bigger than my great danes! Nice spidey! I had a wild caught Peruvian. Was the most interesting pet I had ever had.

Thanks for all the replies. I like the advice. Get a good lock, rig a bungee to the air horn, and carry a tarantula! ha. I was talking to one of my neighbors who owns a rig and he says he uses some sort of gadget that sticks on the back and then gives off a loud alarm if someone tries to open the cargo door. He seemed to like it but I'm not sure if it's necessary if you already have a good lock, is it?

As long as you keep your lock on there I wouldn't worry about it. Companies have insurance. You can usually feel in the cab (if it's not real windy) if someone is messing with your truck. Even way in the back. I know this sounds out there, but try not to wear company hats and clothing. This lets people know inside who's truck is empty or without a driver outside. Especially if you are in line for a shower. Most importantly just be aware of your surroundings. Sometimes give yourself a few minutes of observation time before hopping out of your truck. Try to stay off the back line at the truck stops and out of the middle. Also don't nose in. The honest drivers keeping a watch out for everyone won't be able to see someone screwing with your truck. If you do have a dog that is probably one of the best deterrents.

Do what I do....I wear a Mercer hat (Thanks REDD) but I don't pull for Mercer!
If I ever do pull for Mercer, I'll wear a hat that says something else...Confusion is the best deterrent!

Besides, If I'm in the same truckstop as REDD....They'll break into his truck and MINE will be fine!:biggrin_2559:

Just put Dick Cheney on your door so people think he drives the truck. Everyone knows he'll shoot a friend in the back let alone a crook.

I watched an episode of Trick My Truck and the theme was Jail Break for cop turned trucker or something.

Anyways the security system was a hidden laser beam by the steps. You stepped on it and they had barking dogs recorded to come out the speaker system. It was pretty cool.

    Nice spider!

Might want to rethink that one. You won't be driving that truck for a long time after unleashing pepper spray in it. We had someone use a can on a guy at the YMCA I used to work at. This was in a huge room and we had to close for 8 hours due to lingering effects. I can't imagine how long it would take to get that out of a truck cab.
