Must be nice to live in your town; it's good to know places like that still exist :)

A truck driver that steals from another truck driver deserves to be terminated from his or her job, have his or her CDL taken away for a certain number of years for 1st. offense, be PROSECUTED for the crime, and have it recorded on his or her DAC report.

There is NO EXCUSE in the world for one truck driver to be stealing from another truck driver, or anybody else for that matter. Truck drivers are supposed to be some of the most SELF DISCIPLINED individuals in the workforce. This may sound harsh, however, truck drivers need to be able to trust one another.

God bless every American and their families! God bless the U.S.A.!

I've had fuel stolen out of my company truck, before.

And my reefer tank has been drained a few times as well- the worst was in Big Cabin, OK- I was sitting up underneath a load of ice cream taking my 10; I'm laying in the back, just snoozing away when I suddenly wake up out of a dead sleep "Oh god, why is the reefer off?"

Yank on my boots, and throw on a shirt; sure as hell the tank cap is dangling on its chain, tank is bone dry and that reefer is alarming.
It was set for -10, and was at 15 when I caught it...I was working for FFE at the time and no one even bothered to call or message me about the remote alarm!
Luckily, I had about 20 ft of air hose that I kept around to transfer fuel from the reefer to the truck and vice-versa with the truck to the reefer (Take note, those of you new to reefer yanking) so I got that bad girl running again after I threw in 30 gallons or so from my Volvos tanks, but hey that's only because I cared about my job.
Half the employees at FFE would've just said screw it and gone back to bed.

Anyhow, yeah; I've had fuel stolen, load bars, bungees; generally anything I attached to the back of the tractor or on the trailer; other folks (and drivers) just seemed to feel keen on helping themselves too.
Now as far as inside of the cab? I've had little stuff go missing. Every time I would roll into a Walmart to grab groceries, I'd pick up a few car magazines like mopar, and every time I went into a shop it seemed like the stack I had in the truck got a bit shorter.

But hey, what can `ya do?

Out on the road its where you park and what is easily taken. At the terminal I can't say I have only driven for a 3 truck out fit or been an O/O. I wouldn't have thought that you would have that much trouble at a terminal, years ago I worked at a 200 truck company in the shop. I don't think any of us would but at any rate the maintenance log showed what and who worked on truck. Wouldn't have been hard to narrow it down. All a lock really does is keep an honest man honest, If a thief wants it they will get it. I'm from a small village I never take the key out of my 359 when home. Keys stay in my pickup when I'm gone. When on the road I don't carry any valuables just necessities I don't even have a GPS. I rarely take my break at at a TS. Get most of my fuel at little hole in the wall places. Its best to avoid the crowds.

Most company trucks are keyed the same. So, it does not matter if it is locked or not.

Last company I worked at, when the truck was in the yard, I took everything of any value out.

One weekend, another driver camped out in it and smoked cigars and I had to clean it and toss my bedding out.

Everybody having a key is what was worrying me. What about truck stops when you go in for a shower?

It is EXTREMELY SAD & UNFORTUNATE that truck drivers cannot trust their fellow truck drivers.

It is EXTREMELY SAD & UNFORTUNATE that a truck stop has to be thought of as having a "den of thieves".

God bless every American and their families! God bless the U.S.A.!
