A lot of truckstops are almost impossible to back out of a spot when you pull in

A lot of drivers think they are at the Ritz where there is great linen sheets and quiet.
Grubby, Hammer166, runningman0661 and 2 others Thank this. -
that's why I always try to find myself a spot far away from everybody. If you see a white volvo parked in the far corner at a parking lot, the chances are, it is me. I seriously think of getting myself a seal protector. I am an 2XLT size man and this itself intimidates a lot of potential trouble seekers but confrontations are to be avoided at all costs. To throw the first punch, in this country, even at someone deserving could mean what...5 years imprisonment? No thank you. Many times I simply moved myself to a different spot if, a truck that just parked next to mine causes me some grief.

Man, I hate the hours on refers... I knew I'd hate it going in and I wanted to go flatbed for all the reasons I hate pulling a refer trailer.. My problem is, I'm making very good money as a new driver so it's a bit of a dilemma as if I should just buy a truck to put on with my current company so I can get out of my lease truck or buy the type of truck Id want if I were to move to a owner op company after my year is up.

I was never an owner-operator, but did pull some loads for Admiral Merchants which is a flatbed outfit for owner-operators. The drivers I talked to were happy there.
Don't buy a truck until you're sure you have something lined up. If you have 12 mos. experience now, you can probably find a decent owner-operator outfit with flatbed freight.
One guy on here bought a couple of used trucks from Melton Truck Lines, but there's plenty of places to get a good truck that's spec'd for flatbed work.crocky Thanks this. -
The problem with pulling straight in, is it can be much harder to get back out, specially when you are leaving early in the AM for your appointment and the lot is still full.
The other issue, is a lot of these lots are very tight. When you back in, it allows you to hang a good portion of your trailer over the curb assuming you are on the outer areas of the lot (I always park on the outer areas if I can).
Anyway, if you pull straight into that same spot nose 1st, your trailer sticks out into the roadway more than the front of your triuck would if you backed in being the front of your truck cant hang way out over the curb like the trailer can.diesel drinker Thanks this. -
Well joke was on this guy, because my 90 didnt even check the seal...

I am just glad, in this story, that the broken seal did not cause any load claims and rejections. Glad that there is still common sense among some shippers/receivers. I heard that some call cops to do a report, if a seal is discovered missing or broken.crocky Thanks this.

Well my thing is, I originally wanted to go flatbed which I could do at my current company but I'm thinking now that Id rather do a step deck so I could haul more equipment related freight and not have to tarp loads so much.Chinatown Thanks this.
