I am home daily from August 1 to Halloween. For may June July I am operating mostly i80 and north. I have places I park where I am comfortable using the window screens so I do that a fair bit. Add a small 12v fan and good to go. I have never idled for air conditioning purposes.
If you operate where you absolutely need a.c. for summer time sleeping... There isn't really any easy solution. You either get an apu installed or you make your own apu. One is easy and expensive. The other is much cheaper but not as easy. There are many threads with different homemade setups.
