    Good evening yall!

I just got back into the reefer side of things and bought a 2008 utility reefer from a buddy of mine because it was in good condition and the unit had lower hours on it. He went through some things a few years back which led to him going out of business and this trailer was just sitting for 3 years.

So I did a full PM ( oil change, filters, belts, recharged 3 lbs of freon ) and all seals/valves seem to be good and its holding -10 no problem.

The only problem I have started after I got the belts changed the first time, the tech must've not tightened the tensioner because after a day of running continuous, I heard some weird noises and sure enough the belts were loose and the bolts on the pulley side were more than halfway out. I did my pre-trip that morning as I do every day because I can't afford a claim, everything was good and halfway through my trip this happened. The idler belt was gone pretty much so I changed only that belt and not the fan belt because A it seemed good and B I didn't have a ladder to climb up to the top to take the fan bolts out. Came home after that trip and got both belts changed but this time made sure all bolts were tight. Well, a week later now, my fan belt and idler belt is needing to be replaced again. I have no idea why this is happening. The pulleys spin freely, the tension was less than a half inch, and the tech at thermo king said he doesn't understand which leaves me with no answers. I hope somebody here can help me figure this out. Its a TK SB210

Pics would be nice. "Well, a week later now, my fan belt and idler belt is needing to be replaced again." Why do they need to be replaced, are they loose, squealing, chewed or torn up?
"The pulleys spin freely,.." With the belts off place your hands at 12 and 6 o'clock on the pulley and push in with one hand and pull out with the other to see if there is any play/movement. Also do this at 3 and 9 o'clock working the pulley back and forth to see if there is any play. Check any/all rubber mounts/bushings which could cause movement/excessive vibration working the bolts loose. I would also double check to make sure the belts and tensioner are the correct parts. Tensioners not only are for tension but have a dampener in them. There should be no movement of the tensioner when the unit is running.

    Concorde Thanks this.

Check pulleys themselves, always keep a spare set of belts but once they “break in” they need to be retightened,
