I think what happened is that the 2 diabolically bad batteries killed the new alternator. That plus a very loose connection where the starter / charging cable from the APU connects to one of the batteries.
In other words it was my fault that the new alternator was killed by installing it into a very bad situation.
    It was doomed to fail.

Being that I now have 4 new batteries and will soon be fitting that totally reconditioned APU alternator maybe I will be able to stop idling this darn main engine @ 0.75 g per hour.

Now if I can just bring the espar back to life..........

    Interesting Slavcha.
Normally my fridge runs 24/7 off the inverter and when I want to use the microwave I don't start the main engine. The APU takes up the slack.
I like the idea of the solar panel.
I am toying with the idea of when I retire, chopping the front end off an old trailer, repositioning the 5th wheel forward and creating a box truck to live in.
I would cover the roof in solar panels. That plus the APU and shorepower would solve all electrical needs. Have to produce a lot more than 100 watts though. That is not much more than a trickle charge.

I had the original TK alternator rebuilt by a local company. $65. Now everything is working great. Pretty sure I destroyed the electronics of the new one with the bad batteries. I see if it can be rebuilt too. Always good to have a spare. Now I just need to get the espar working.
