Thankfully, I can't find this anywhere, but nothing that comes out of that statehouse is rational, so who knows!

Idiots…what needs to happen is more stringent training regulations and such..minimum experience requirements to train as well..also no more “teaming” during training, trainer must be up front at all times..
Walk Among Us, Hammer166 and Suspect Zero Thank this. -
I've been telling folks for years, the problem is clueless drivers with clueless trainers who were trained by another clueless idiot, ad nauseum...cuzzin it, mjd4277, TurkeyCreekJackJohnson and 2 others Thank this.

I was a trainer several years back, and I can tell you firsthand the crap that myself and other experienced trainers saw and basically said we were not gonna have no part of was outright disgusting…Walk Among Us and Hammer166 Thank this.

I wonder how much of this is auto transmissions too. Because now you don’t have to be conscience of what gear to use. And the auto’s rely on the brake system much more to operate correctly. Not to mention how some of them neutralize to coast and apply brakes to maintain speed.
Hammer166 Thanks this. -
In that situation. Does an auto even try to hold back an engine on an overspeed condition or does it keep up shifting and or using brakes to maintain the proper engine speed?

20 years ago i became a trainer to counter the problem. And i found out that training wheel companies WANT drivers to be smart enough to do what they are told, but not enough to find a differant way.....
That is why companies are eager to hire vets, they will follow orders, and as a bright side, usually are safer driversHammer166 Thanks this. -
More laws do not fix problems, the idiots will still be smokin da brakes, been watchin this coming off the mountains for years, smoking your brakes can already ney you a ticket. Enforce the current laws before adding more.Hammer166 Thanks this.

So many of these outfits restrict driver's ability to hold lower gears. My Eaton auto does not use the brakes, but it's unlocked so it does what I tell it to do. On overspeed it will shift up, so I still need the right gear & speed.
It's one of the things that really frustrates me when these guys talk about Freightliners descent control, they act like it's some magic Beast that automatically let you go down the hill faster. It just automates gear and Jake level selection to try and maintain set speed. If you've got the set speed set too high you're in trouble!
As one would imagine, the demographics of the people who have trouble on 285 are pretty much identical to the idiots who have trouble on I-70. Generally reefers.SmallPackage and PacoTaco Thank this.
