They all suck!

You should of poured milk down the door window. Thell need a wreaker to get truck back to them ,no body will drive it , sence stinking so bad ,I worked for a company back in 93 called McClendon trucking ,biggest bunch of a-holes I ever worked for ,they sent me to another state to pick up abandoned truck .and yes ,it had milk poored in door ,worse 50 miles I ever drove,

 

I'll admit that there are a lot of bad apples in the trucking industry, but not all truckers are bad, not all dispatchers are bad, not all shippers and receivers are utter morons.
I spent 4 years managing a warehouse, loading and unloading trucks, I've been on the road OTR for almost 14 years.
I've seen both sides of the coin.
The trucking industry is what you make it. If you're not happy with your job, find a job you are happy with.
I have met some incredibly wonderful people, and I've met some that I would rather take out behind the woodshed and beat the tar out of.
Bottom line, I have met more good than bad. People who just like us love their jobs, just want to do a good job, take care of their families same as you and I.
To say the whole industry sucks is a misnomer and your statement becomes irrelevant.

 

As my classroom CDL instructor said (and still says to this day):"You only get out of life what you put into it!!!"

 

You can rationalize all you want.
Being micro managed and scrutinized 24 -7,to make pretty much minimum wage considering the hours worked.
I surely dont see this as a life long occupation.
Im paying off my house and going to sit in the yard and drink beer.

 

You actually make good money.
You get paid for sitting on your fanny most of the time. You only actually work a couple days a week doing your job.
If you don't believe me, look at how much time you actually log doing your job. Pretrip, fueling, loading, unloading, post trip, and what other work you actually log.
You'll see that you are making far above average.
The rest of the time your just a paid professional vacationer.
When 8 finally started looking at for just the work actually done, I realized that most weeks I was only actually working about 30 to 35 hours.
With my current rpm, overall, I was being paid for 60.
Even after taxes, benefits, 401k, etc., I was still taking home well above minimum wage.

 

Professionals get paid for their time.lots of office people are well paid.
When you factor all your time versus your paycheck, your working 80 at straight time pay...minimum wage.

 

Lawyers about the only profession that bills by time ... everyone else is on straight salary and are expected to put in whatever hours are necessary to do the job.

 

Not really you do a 70 hr in a week, get paid $6-800
Sounds like minimum wage. What about being deployed
10-30 days, then when u get home there's a list. And there's no parking and it's getting worse.most drivers I know that have been lifers hate it, the conditions suck.Wait in line for showers, eat at subway, shippers don't care how long you wait, some drivers wise up in 6months, I did 5 yrs of Flatbed and like some of it but
Finally saw the light and went home for good.
