OK now it's time for the trolls to chime in with the following comments:
"Well I make 100K per year and love it. YOU just haven't found the right company".
"Trucking is not a job, it is a lifestyle".
"If you don't like the pay and conditions, go flip burgers".
"You just aren't cut out for this industry".
They all suck!

I'm not cut out for the right company.
You just aren't cut out for this lifestyle.
Trucking is not a job if you don't like the pay and conditions.
Trolling complete. Have a nice day, everyone!alds Thanks this. -
LOL, Bigjoel!!!!
I agree with what everyone has said thus far. We all know this field has gotten worse, just like every other field in the country. It is all in what you are willing to put up with. My little experience has been with 1.) a small company that hauled for a large company-wasn't a fit because they really didn't have trainers, and 2.) a large company that knows if you quit, there are 10 people waiting to take your place. So, where do you go from there?
I decided to go home. Got tired of dealing with the non-driving b.s. that the company dished out. Rider policy, sure we have one, $27 a month, but we won't issue you a truck that allows room enough for a rider if you are a solo driver. Pet policy, sure, $500 non refundable deposit & $10 a week. Incompetent fleet managers or dispatchers-What? you want more that 1800 miles a week? That kind of thing.
Here is a very real example: Friday my fleet mgr. says, "Drop load at Lexington terminal, get truck fixed." Call Saturday to get drop # & get told, "We don't have you as dropping load, but get truck fixed." I get truck fixed. Call Sunday morning & get asked, "Why haven't you delivered?" Tell them I want to talk to my fleet mgr. (I know she was working.). "She's not here" OK-I'm tired of this-I quit. "Oh, let me see if I can find her." 15 minutes of holding later, "She's just getting logged in and she will call you back as soon as she gets up and running." 24 hours later--STILL no phone call.
The better companies, the ones that you need one or more years of experience to drive for, can be better, but as they say, the grass isn't always greener on the other side of the fence. It all cirlces back to the phrase, what are you willing to put up with?
Just my two cents. -
every company has it's problems no doubt
last january i was collecting $225/week
life is better then that today
sorry if I wont join the gripe fest
I even lease and am happyfargonaz and BigMuthaTrucka Thank this. -
it's not just the trucking industry. ALL jobs suck. Everyone in the working class is taking a huge hit, while big government suits soak up all the money and keep it at the top. It's a matter of time before someone takes a stand. At least in trucking, I make more money on a crappy week than I could ever make with a regular day job.
Midnightrider909, pete1 and bigjoel Thank this. -
Hey Transam Pete did you load out of Dodge City on sat morning?

MUSTANGGT Thanks this.

It's like the old saying goes,,,"You either love trucking, or you hate it, there is no in between"
jeff18 Thanks this. -
I think it has its ups and downs or pros & cons but What can one do about the flaws? Like everything else trucking has a tricklenomics effect .. drivers are somewhere on the food chain. In reality we're dealing a power greater than, gotta learn to deal with it.. I guess..

the only chance to change it is a big drivers strike but what are the chances of that especially in this economy? ZERO
