For my dealbreaker has already occured, hence now we await the fallout! Observation of the next few years will indeed be told for scores of years to come, if not centuries. Sadly, I just don't think this train (wreck) has reverse. I wish I did. Tides rise and fall

it will be quite interesting the next few years as the economy ie freight slows but expenses sky rocket via increased regulation (eobr and calif regs) plus inflation maybe if i pull just in the midwest region i can avoid some of it but i wonder what the long term effects could do and if it will be severe enough to put that train in reverse we all want safe road just no body wants to pay the 8 dollars a gallon for your milk that it will cost

That is frigg'n hilarious! And dang near the truth! Cops weren't stupid enough to try and buffalo us back then, but now the unedjucated igits are forced to walk the walk and talk the talk. It's a crime in itself, may as well be locked up!

My thoughts exactly. Many people start working OTR, can't hack it and quit... but lots of them are surprised to find that dedicated or local trucking is much more to their liking. I was one of those disgruntled OTR guys myself. Now granted, I did do the OTR thing for a little while, and there were moments I wouldn't trade for anything, but once I found local trucking...that was it. I won't lie, I have recently made attempts to switch back, so I would warn of the "greener grass" effect, but many OTR turned local drivers experience this and ultimately have to make the best decision for themselves. The best thing any new driver can do is (if possible) try both and see which one is more suited to their liking. If you try both and like neither, maybe it's time to try something in a different field. The "idea" of trucking is a lot more glamourous than the actual job itself...

Well it's either laugh about nothing or cry about everything, right?
That is what those old timers sound like they are ####### hilarious!
Its like telling a story about the fish they caught 30 years ago; it just gets bigger and bigger and bigger....

Does anyone thinks rates will be better next year? This is just horrible for dry's and reefers.

I'm a noob here but not new to working, have noticed there are people that are just happy complaining about everything. I have always said every job has "those kinda days", even if a person's job was nothing more than applying body glitter and "perking up" the entertainer(s) before going out on stage (trying to be PC and gender neutral) for $20/hr. They would still want a raise every year and would also call in "sick..cough..cough :biggrin_25525:" a few times, even if the scenery changed for the better daily, weekly or monthly.....do it long enough and there comes a couple of days you just don't feel like going to work that day. Plus this would be MY dream job, there are some that will read this and think this would be a living H*LL, not every job is for everybody. If it wasn't a job they wouldn't have to pay you to do it, it would be a hobby.
