The funny part is watching these guys with 20 plus years experience. Still job hopping. Hoping to find that perfect company.
Sorry guys but without speaking about ANY political party, mentioning ANY names I have been given POINTS. This is hard for me to understand as I was just speaking about my children. This time I really just don't get it so can any of the rest of y'all fill me? I read the paragraph in question TWICE and I'm at a loss. I actually meant nothing political about anything I wrote ....so sorry if I led y'all astray.
I just dug up a picture of one of my first rigs. And I didn't need some stupid triples endorsement to drive it, just a guy with a shotgun on my right side!!!
And my sister has a great paying job in the Mortgage business and she'll tell you that sucks, too! It's all relative. And the restaurant business???? Yeah, that sucks, too!!
I started out in the days before the CDL. All we had was a chauffeurs license to drive anything, class E I think. I didn't even carry a medical card my first year. When I started, I had no training or co-driver. They pointed to the truck, told me where to pickup my load, said I could pickup a log book when I fueled. Ran 2900 miles my first week in a daycab, 63 mph truck (naps over the steering wheel). I eventually learned how to log and even filled out my sheets (sometimes) before I turned in my trips. It was loose for sure when comparing to todays standards. Just the way it was back then.
It is what you make of it some days, but as a whole I enjoy my job. I make close to twice what I was making working 9-5 at home, and I hated the bs I had to put up with there too. Some weeks are better than others, but I try to keep it in perspective and look at my miles by the month, as they are consistent that way. I would like to be home more and have a more "normal" life, but financially I can't do that. I do like the nomadic lifestyle, with pretty much being your own boss, and the pay is decent. I average just under $1100/week checks and I wouldn't make that at home. even when I decide to be home more,i hope to still drive or do something related to driving as I do enjoy it.
