Pretty sure they can't force you to pay something back unless they paid it by mistake in the first place.

It would be a long explaination but the short version is that this is Florida and labor laws here are not exactly on the side of the worker. I mean we cant even get an election right ..lol

Its been a bad day, been looking for local jobs desperately for weeks now, all have said the same: my clean record is a plus but my age doesnt match what their insurance requires, i guess i started too young. Even on this low point i would rather sit here than be cleaning airplanes for $7.25 an hour. I might not have a life right now but i grossed $1808 last week when they added my safety bonus. I dont know anyone (in person) that makes more money.

I don't care where you live, if a company pays you they can't later say "oh, we decided that you have to pay us back". Whats to stop them from wanting 50% of your pay?

A company or a corporation is a piece of paper. It is not a living breathing thing. A company cannot suck. The people who work for it can. I was fired once because of "company" policy. It was just a term the man used to justify what he was doing. Companies don't make policy the people there do.

I you find yourself working for a company that sucks, change the company or leave. My grandfather always said the key to happiness was to "Change your Actions or Change your Attitudes." I find that works. I am a very conservative political type. I believe if it isn't in the constitution the government has no right to pass a law about it. All power starts with the people. It is the same way in your work like. No company can ---- you unless you pull down your pants and bend over.

Example, the pay is low. But you take the pay and go to the bank, cash the check and then ##### about how low the check is. Do you organize an Union? No, unions take out union dues so you complain about them also. Either stop taking the check or do someting about it. Change your actions. Or just stop thinking about how that check feels like someone forgot the lube. Change your attitude.

I am a company driver for a very small company, but I belong to OOIDA. I don't think they will make a difference at the company I work for but they are trying to make the industry better. I support their efforts. I am being paid enough for me to do the job. I work 5 or 6 days a week. I sleep in my own bed with my puppy next to me. I drive a truck but I have lots of other interest. If things change and I become unhappy, I will quit. I find the little things that use to really p i s s me off do not anymore. I move on before they do or I except them.

As to the fighter fighter who feels he is under paid, you are just plain wrong. Having to pay back that money would mean you are paid $100,000 per year. Rarely do firefighters put their lives in jeopardy. You are trained. You run into a fire only when it is safe to do so. For us it would not be safe but you know what you are doing. If not, stop being a fire fighter. Teachers, cops, and firefighters, the three most over paid groups in our society. And doctors, lawyers, and actors are the second most over paid.

Truckers make what they agree to make. Period. You want benefits, demand them. You want home time, demand it. You want better equipment, demand it. Of course, if you join together your voice will be louder. When you back a truck into a dock, do you tell the trailer where to go or do you just close your eyes and hope. Take control of your career. Join something but grow a pair.
