Wooly Rhino, doctors are overpaid? When they get out of school often times they have loans to pay back that many of us could not evn think about paying back! The overhead for doctors is much more than many people realize, good nurses cost big money, the cost of medical supplies is outrageous, they pay heavenly taxes etc.Doctors may gross a lot but the net is not what you think, just as it is for many O/O's in this industry. TEACHERS are overpaid!? My wife has been a teacher for 17 years and brings home under $40,000 to teach/help along mentally retarded kids (because no one else wants the job!)
SOME REGIONS may over pay teachers but my wife is not overpaid. My father is a doctor is a doctor and I know all to well the reality of the medical field. But just wait a bit because your about to have "cheap" medical care....we will see how you like it. I looked at a poll the other day where (a poll among doctors made by them for them) and they stated that over 82% will be leaving the field very soon.
With mal-practice insurance, soon THEY no longer decide your medical treatment SUITS will. It's sad because I have seen first hand what they are going through and let the narrative is still "those greedy pigs"

Why has this whole country seemly turned against one another? Why do we all of a sudden think everyone is out to get us? It's just sicking what is happening to our country? It's like a cancer infecting the very soul of the nation! Do we need some changes ? Well we are the country with the MOST freedom, the HIGHEST standard of living....in my book we are doing just fine.
Have you ever been to other countries? Well I promise ya bud there is a reason people from all over the world come here looking for a better life. Here you have a CHANCE to chase your dream and MILLIONS have reached it! MILLIONS!

Many countries I've been this is just not possible! Your not PROMISED it here NO but we have the right to pursue it! I have not acheived what my father, brothers, cousins have but do a resent them NO I'm very proud of them. As I'm proud of my wife she could have made more being a speech pathologist, which she was in the process of doing by earning her masters, she CHOSE

 

she chose to do what she does because her feels like she is helping kids no one else really wanted to!

My point is people here choose their lives where some cannot. It's just lately where people have started to feel like EVERYONE was out to get them, was cheating them, started to think "hey I deserve more" even though they may have not worked as hard as they could have to get there.

MOST of the time WE point fingers its because we are lacking in something we THINK we deserve.

Graditude is needed in many cases, including mine at times.

A country cannot go from a state of APATHY to a state sheer bliss without much work.

News Flash!!! I make no where near $100,000/yr as a firefighter and if you read my post I am currently looking for something else. The reason I am looking is because I am not happy with the organization I work for. As for you comment on pay and teachers and firefighters.. First of all trucking jobs I am currently looking at would start me out close to what I now make after 17 years as a firefighter. I make under $50,000/ yr and starting firefighters make about $10.00/ hr. Second it is never "safe" to enter a burning house. In terms of BTUs a structure fire doubles in size every minute or so. YOu do your best to be safe but the reality is you never know what can happen in a hazardous atmosphere. Just ask FDNY, the coventional wisdom was that a high rise building would be "safe" to enter and it was the fire floor that would up the anti on danger. But like I said.. You never know when things will go wrong. Your comments on pay come from listening to Fox news sound bites and not doing any research on your own to better understand the debate over pay for firefighters or teachers. By the way if it wasnt for a teacher you would lack the ability to spell your way through a posting on this message board. I think that is a skill you can not put a dollar value on if you ask me.
Ive read all the postings and I can tell you truckers feel underpaid and they are vocal about it. And I agree!! You all are under paid and Im saying that knowing that a lot of you make more than I do but you do not have to run into a burning building or pull a body out of wrecked vehicles. I make $18.00/hr after 17 yrs on the job. Ive been promoted through two positions and thats my pay. I go into hazardous environments, I pull men, women and children from wrecked vehicles, I do CPR on people weekly (some successfully and some not so much), I put motorcylists body parts back together along the side of the roadway and not only do I say I dont make enough I will also stand up with all of you to say you dont make enough either. Hey Wooly Rhino......Ever do CPR on an infant????? I have!

 

They all suck huh? Well they sure do,, but let me tell ya, two can play at that game.....You know the old saying,, you get what you pay for,,, when they don't pay me well,,, I can "suck" just as bad as them.....

I'm with okieboy, I've played that game a time or two. I've been honest when I have also. By stating I would never mind doing X but you pay me for Y. If it's in fact worth it to the company they will find something to add to Y.

A vector of sorts! I will never go out though and say "they all suck" because they simply do not. This industry is filled with ones that do however. With all the regulations and crap we have to deal what sane person even wants to be in this field!?

Thats how it was back in the late 80's early 90's when I first got into trucking. I was never gone from home for more than 3 - 5 days. Back home for 2 - 3 days and then back out on the road for 3 - 5 days.

Now after a 15 yr hiatus, I found myself in the worst position possible. Starting from the bottom and working my way back up, despite having almost 7 yrs prior experience,.. albeit 15 yrs ago. Now 9 months back into this industry, I am lucky to see home every 8 - 9 weeks with 5 days home. I cant wait until my contract is up and I can move on. I just want a decent company that offers respectable pay with decent home time. Oh,. and minimal drama if there is such a company. LOL.
